When change feels overwhelming, the right support can make all the difference 💜🏡

After living together for 26 years, two residents had one clear wish... to stay together in the place they call home.

Through Claro's Continuity of Support Program, that wish became a reality.

In just a few short weeks, our team coordinated a seamless SIL transition, which included welcoming some of the residents' existing support workers into Claro. By maintaining trusted relationships and working closely with families, clinicians and allied health teams, we helped ensure continuity, stability and peace of mind throughout the process for the pair.

Today, both residents continue to live happily together in the home and community they love, proving that with the right planning and person-centred approach, change doesn't have to mean starting over.

Accessible housing should be more than just a place to live - it should empower people to choose where, how and who they live with 🏡💜

So, what does it take to create accessible housing that meets the needs and expectations of people with a disability?

Claro’s Executive General Manager, Jennifer Morgan, recently contributed her insights to Housing Hub’s recent article, “Becoming an Accessible Housing Provider That People Choose”. As the article highlights:

“Being a provider of choice in accessible housing means focusing on what matters most to the people who live in your homes, and continuing to learn, improve, and be accountable over time…”.

A home is defined not by its walls, but by the people, memories and community that fill it 💜

When four long-term housemates in Melbourne learned their existing Supported Independent Living (SIL) provider could no longer deliver their supports, their biggest wish was simple: to stay together in the home and neighbourhood they had shared for more than 20 years.

Claro worked closely with the residents, their families, their existing provider and key stakeholders to ensure a smooth, respectful transition. Through open communication, careful planning and a person-centred approach, we helped maintain the stability and continuity that mattered most.

The residents also had the opportunity to identify support workers they wanted to continue working with, helping preserve trusted relationships that had been built over many years.

Today, they continue to thrive together in the home they love, supported by the Claro team.

It's a reminder that quality support is about more than care - it's about empowering choice, maintaining meaningful connections and putting people at the centre of every decision.
