Modern kids (even adults) sit more
Move less
Sleep worse
And carry more stress

Than any generation before them.

And it is not because parents are doing something wrong.

Childhood simply looks very different now.

More screens.
More sitting.
Busier schedules.
Less unstructured movement.
Less time outside.

Children’s bodies are still developing in the same way they always have, but the environment around them has changed dramatically.

That is why many parents today pay closer attention to how their child’s body is moving, adapting, and coping with daily stress.

Sometimes a small shift in awareness can make a big difference for a growing body.

When people hear “chiropractic for a 3 year old,” they often imagine something intense.

What you’re actually seeing here is gentle, age-appropriate care focused on movement.

At three, kids are constantly loading their bodies.

They climb.
They fall.
They sit on the floor.
They twist, jump, and grow quickly.

Every one of those things is normal.
Every one of those things places physical stress on a developing musculoskeletal system.

Stress isn’t just emotional.
It’s mechanical too.

Growth spurts, bumps, awkward sleeping positions, long car rides — it all adds up over time.

In practice, we assess how a child is moving, whether there are asymmetries, and how their body is adapting to the demands of daily life. Where appropriate, gentle manual techniques may be used to support normal joint motion.

Most children who are checked aren’t there because something is “wrong.”

They’re there because their parents value movement, balance, and proactive care as their child grows.

Curiosity about how your child is moving is not overreacting.

It’s informed parenting.

Most families think fight or flight looks dramatic.

Panic. Crisis. Chaos.

More often, it looks subtle.

A child who melts down over small things.
A parent who snaps faster than they used to.
A house that feels slightly tense even when nothing is wrong.

Fight or flight is not a mindset issue.
It is a physiological state.

It is the body preparing to respond.

The problem is not that we enter that state.
The problem is when we stay there.

Modern parenting carries constant load.
Noise. Screens. Deadlines. Mental planning. Interrupted sleep. Emotional responsibility.

When the system doesn’t shift back into recovery, it shows up as tension, irritability, sleep disruption, and low tolerance.

Not because anyone is failing.

Because the body has been bracing for too long.

The goal is not eliminating stress.
It is improving how well the body can move out of alert mode and back into regulation.

And that shift changes everything.

If you have an 8 week old who is unsettled, arching back, hard to put down or just never seems fully relaxed… you are not crazy for feeling like something is off.

Before jumping straight to labels, we always zoom out and look at the whole picture.

What is going into their system?
If you are breastfeeding, are there foods that could be irritating their little digestive system?
If they are on formula, is it the right fit for them?

What was their birth story?
Induction, forceps, vacuum, long labour. Birth is a big mechanical event. Sometimes no one has gently checked how their spine and nervous system adapted afterwards. That is not about blame. It is about awareness.

How are they feeding and positioning?
Latch, winding, time curled in capsules and prams. Little bodies spend a lot of time flexed forward in those early weeks.

And how regulated are you?
Babies do not just feed off milk. They feed off nervous systems. If you are exhausted and running on empty, that matters too. Supporting mum is often part of supporting baby.

We are not here to diagnose or label. We assess movement, tone and how the nervous system is adapting so families feel clearer and more supported.

If you have been told it is just colic but your instinct says there is more to the story, trust that instinct.

Send me a DM with the word BABY and I will explain what we look at in those early visits.

Whenever I am home I do my best to take that opportunity to make sure my family are well adjusted to allow their bodies to operate at 100%. They remind me if I forget that they haven’t had an adjustment in too long with some not so subtle hints. Dad in his mid 60s reminding me his golf swing has been suffering.
