Happy Hogmanay!

Been a tough couple of years for my Myotherapy business and a lot of others with lots of lockdowns stop start, stop start, then when we opened back up still heaps of sick cancels all year.

But looking forward to 2023 being a great year and helping more people!

Thank you to all my clients who have supported me this year, I'm lucky that I never feel like I work a day in my life as I truly love what I get to do for a living.

Wishing everyone a great 2023!

New insta name!

Thought it was time to change the work account name to better indicate who I see and what I do.

Some people would think having an account called the_running_myotherapist that I only treat runners which isn't true.

I do enjoy treating runners having been a runner myself for a very long time.

However I treat people from all walks of life be that office workers, tradies, elite athletes, every day athletes, mums and dad's, young athletes, teachers, gym goers to name a few.

Myotherapy involves me seeing people for injury management, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation (just like a physio, osteo or podiatrist would).

Injuries I treat are back pain, muscle strains, tendinopathys, neck pain, hip pain, neural pain, joint pain, sporting injuries are just some of the things I deal with.

Remedial/sports massage involves me seeing people to help de-stress, people in need of a recovery massage so they can better perform in the gym or recover from their sport or day to day activities.

So there are many facets to being a Myotherapist.

If your in need of treatment or advice reach out or you can find me at

Still makes no sense that Myotherapists can't see urgent care face to face. Yet other allied health can see the exact same patients that Myotherapists would normally see for urgent face to face care, while they can't be seen by us.

Pfizer Covid Jag number 1 done.

Keen to get the vaccine as I'm sick of getting locked down and not being able to work.

If it's a way to stop lockdowns happening then I'm all for it.

REHAB = NO EXCUSES

When we are fit and healthy it's easy for us to get out and train in any weather conditions.

Find time in a busy schedule of work, social and family life to fit training into the schedule.

But when it comes to being injured and making time for rehab it can be a whole other story.

Time and time again I see patients when I ask have you done your rehab exercises come up with a heap of different excuses as to why they didn't manage to do it. (I've even been guilty of it myself)

We really need to put the same focus on to rehab as if it were a training session that we would find every way to fit it into our day.

Today I could have skipped my Rehab Run a 5 x 3min jog, 1min walk because of the heavy rain but I got out there and got it done.

So when it comes to Rehab there should be No Excuses...Get it done, get stronger and get back to what you love doing.

If you need any advice or help with an injury or rehab then get in touch.

Reposted from OPEN UP YOU HIPS....
Being able to get into hip extension and open your hips is important for so many things.
Modern day life involves many positions that mean we are in hip flexion (closing the angle between the thigh and front of the body)....sitting probably the most common that many of us do for long periods each day.

Here's our with a simple way to help you open up your hips.

Give it a go or 🏷 tag a mate who this could benefit 👍

The Role Shoes Can Play When You Have a Ni**le!

At the moment I'm carrying a lower leg ni**le not a 100% sure if it is a tib post issue or a sural nerve issue but it's causing medial heel pain.

Today I attempted a run wearing the Pegasus a neutral running shoe. I managed 3mins and had to walk as the pain was unbearable.

I then went home and changed into a more structured shoe that offers more support the Kayano and then managed to do a 25min easy run with no pain at all.

So when you have a ni**le it doesn't necessarily mean you have to stop all together.

Sometimes it may be as simple as changing your footwear so you can continue to do some sort of running.

Myself and the team specialise in treating runner's and we do our utmost to not only assess, treat and rehab running injuries but also to keep you running to some degree where possible, as we know how important running is to runners being runners ourselves as well as being Myo's, Physio's and Podiatrist's
