I’ve been reflecting on this 💭
📣We often try to teach our kids through words, by explaining. But actually our children mostly learn through watching, through actions and practice.
🧠If we truly want our kids to learn anything, from communicating, getting dressed, reading a book, to asking for help, sharing, playing gently or fairly, then we need to be there when those moments happen. Not to correct but to support HOW to do those things.
💌Each new person or different situation is another invitation to explore ‘how do I apply this skill here? With this person? In this moment? With these feelings and in this place’
🕵️♀️🕵️♂️As parents, we don’t have to have all the answers. All we need is to be curious and compassionate, to ourselves and our kids. And one day we will watch our child independently share their toy, ask someone for help, say hi to someone new. All those things you have been supporting your child to learn, will one day be their default.
