“The technique didn’t open the door. The relationship did.” 🤝

We have spent decades building better tools and forgot to build better trust. In Freetown’s informal settlements, no framework, no model, no intervention has ever reached a child before a human being did first.

CINORG’s workers don’t lead with technique. They lead with presence. And that presence, quiet, patient, unconditional is what opens the door that everything else walks through.

Not hunger. Not shelter.

The poverty of never feeling safe in your own skin.

In Freetown’s informal settlements, thousands of children wake up every day with their bodies still bracing.

Still waiting for something to go wrong.

And we wonder why they don’t respond.
Why they shut down.
Why they push back.

You cannot reach a child who is still surviving.

Before we teach, before we counsel, before we intervene —

we must first ask:
Does this child feel safe?

That one question changes everything. 🌿

I’ll be honest with you.

When I read his story, I didn’t feel inspired. I felt responsible.

Something shuffled so deeply inside me that I had to sit with it for a while.

Because poverty isn’t always the real problem. Sometimes it’s the silence around it. And that silence is what breaks children long before the world even notices.

Those rays of sunshine in this picture? That’s the only promise I’m making. To bring that light. Quietly. Consistently. To every child who deserves it most.

That’s why Nidhi Perception and CINORG are in this together. Not because it looks good. Because it matters. And children cannot wait. 🤍

I have been sitting with this news for a little while.

Not because I wasn’t ready but because I wanted to feel the full weight of it before I shared it with you.

Today, I step into the role of International Advisor for CINORG — Children in Need Organisation, Sierra Leone. 🌍

I have spent years building the Sentio Framework on one belief that has never left me.

A child who is truly seen, is a child who can heal.

Not managed first. Not diagnosed first. Not helped first.

Seen. First.

CINORG works with some of the most vulnerable children on this planet. Children who have lived through things no child should ever face and who still wake up every morning carrying an extraordinary quiet resilience, waiting for just one adult to truly notice them.

I am going to be that bridge.

Between Australia and Sierra Leone.
Between a framework and the field.
Between what we know about how children heal — and the hands doing that healing every day. 🤍

This is not just a title.

HundrED is a global not-for-profit based in Finland that identifies and shares the world’s most impactful innovations in education. Their Global Collection features 100 of the brightest education innovations from around the world each year.
I am honoured to join this community as the creator of the Sentio Framework — a perception-led emotional awareness framework designed to help educators working with children and young people develop deeper understanding, relational safety, and early support skills.
The Sentio Framework is now live as a recognised innovation on HundrED, and as an Ambassador I will be connecting with educators and innovators globally, sharing what is working in mental health and wellbeing education, and championing Sentio’s mission on the world stage.
