We are cis-het owners of an adult store, and we have always felt the responsibility to create a space that takes everyone experiences into account, not only of those whose mirror ours. We’ve never shout about inclusivity because it’s always felt so performative, and also because we truly know that the way we talk, operate, and run High Tide is the bare minimum. But we are also aware that, in the absence of all of shouting from the rooftops, that perhaps not everyone knows that this is a place where they can come and be safe and inquisitive and be seen for who they are. This month, we celebrate LGBTQIA+ people in all their diversity, while recognising the generations of activists, organisers and community members who fought for the rights many of us enjoy today.

At High Tide, we believe everyone deserves access to pleasure, safety, affirmation and spaces where they can be fully themselves.

High Tide has been recognised in Urban List’s Top 100 Cultural Icons and awarded the People’s Choice Award.
As an independent adult store, it’s incredibly special to receive this kind of recognition on a national scale. It’s not lost on us that conversations around pleasure, intimacy and s*xual wellbeing are finding a place in the mainstream, and we’re proud to be part of this industry.
