Here’s something to remember when navigating support services. (In fact, anything in life really!)

Don’t just nod and agree in appointments or meetings if something doesn’t make sense.

Say it. Ask again. Pause. Push for clarity.

Support should never feel like you have to quietly keep up.

You’re allowed to slow things down, ask questions, and get things explained properly, in a way that actually makes sense to you.

You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

This is WHY we never give up!

After a challenging planning meeting in October 2024, the NDIS declined funding for a scooter, bidet, recliner and electric bed for one of our participants, Michael.

Our Support Coordinator went back to the drawing board and brought together a new allied health team, including an OT, Speech Pathologist and Physiotherapist. Working collaboratively, the team completed updated reports which were submitted to the NDIS in February 2026.

In April 2026, we received the news we had been hoping for. All Assistive Technology items were approved, along with additional funding for Core Supports and Capacity Building supports.

This outcome is the result of a true team effort and more than 18 months of advocacy and persistence.

Most importantly, since receiving his Assistive Technology, Michael has been getting out into the community with his support worker and enjoying greater independence.

That's what it's all about. 💜

Phone calls can be overwhelming, especially when there’s already a lot going on.

By the time you hang up, you’re trying to remember:
• what was said
• what you agreed to
• what happens next
• who you even spoke to 😅

It’s completely okay to ask for important information in writing.

Emails can give you time to reread things properly, process information, and refer back to it later without relying on memory alone.

Bonus Tip: Try and be even more organised and create a dedicated folder for these emails for quick and easy access.

Over 37,000 Australians are living with MS, and no two journeys look the same.

Some people experience physical changes. Others are navigating symptoms you might never notice from the outside. And for many, it’s a mix of both, changing over time.

It’s often diagnosed in early adulthood, right in the middle of building a life, career, and family. Which means there’s a lot to adjust to, often quietly.

World MS Day is about awareness, but also understanding. Taking a moment to recognise that not everything is visible, and that support can make a real difference.

If MS is part of your world, or someone close to you, we’re here with you 🤍

Our Support Coordinator Erin popped in to see Linda to chat through her children’s NDIS plans… and of course, there was a little time for some silliness too.

Because sometimes, a laugh (and a pout!) is exactly what’s needed to get through the day.

Disability is part of diversity and it’s something to embrace, not hide.

Here is a timely reminder that every person brings their own strengths, perspectives and ways of experiencing the world.

When we recognise that, we build communities that are more inclusive, more understanding and stronger for it.

At M&A Support Services, we celebrate diversity in all its forms today and every day 💜
