Future Focus Support Coordination

Future Focus Support Coordination Industry leading NDIS Support Coordination and Specialist Support Coordination.

08/09/2026

The Government has announced a new commissioned Support Coordination and Connection (SCC) service, starting 1 July 2028 - the biggest structural changes to hit our sector since the NDIS began.

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing and the NDIA are now seeking public feedback. Submissions are open now and close 2 October 2026 - the submission window is very short.

DIA invites all Support Coordination providers and practitioners to attend a Virtual Town Hall on the proposed SCC service. This session is free and open to everyone - support coordination providers, practitioners, sole traders, psychosocial recovery coaches, and anyone invested in the future of Support Coordination. You do not need to be a DIA member.

This session will cover:
➡️ What is actually proposed, and what's already been decided: The commissioned lead organisation model, SCC and SCC+, regional service areas, and the difference between what this consultation can still shape and what Government has settled.
➡️ How to approach the 19 questions strategically: You don't have to answer all of them. Which ones carry the most weight for providers, and how to choose the handful where your evidence is strongest.
➡️ What data makes a submission credible: The caseload, participant outcomes, cost and thin-market evidence the Department can actually use, and how to present it if you don't have a policy writing background.

When: Tuesday 15th September
Time: 1:00pm – 2:30pm AEST
Online via Zoom

We’ve opened up limited capacity for Specialist Support Coordination (Level 3).

This is for participants who need more than just coordination, its for those navigating complexity, risk, and multiple systems - and dont have the time for Support Coordinators who dont do the job.

At Future Focus, we focus on practical outcomes, strong clinical oversight, and doing the work properly.

If you’re looking for experienced NDIS Specialist Support Coordinators, we’d love to connect.

Alright. Strap in. End-of-year honesty (with a few proud mum moments) incoming.

First up: Thank you. To our participants, families, referrers, sector mates, and the legends who’ve backed us this year. We see you. We appreciate you. We really bloody mean it.

Future Focus is our baby. We built it from the ground up; fed it, protected it, lost sleep over it, and yes, occasionally wondered what the hell we were thinking. When you care this much about people, quality, and doing the right thing, it’s a gift… and also a lot.

I’m neurodivergent. I feel everything. I hold high standards. Which means I’m great in a crisis and absolutely rubbish at switching off. Fantastic for building something meaningful. Not so fantastic for avoiding burnout. Who could’ve guessed?

And still, amongst the chaos, there have been some huge moments this year.

We had the privilege of sitting at the table in the Quality & Safeguards consultation, helping shape the future Practice Standards for our sector. Proper “how did we get here?” stuff. Rubbing shoulders with giants, lending our voice, and making damn sure the reality of frontline work was heard.

Alongside that, I’ve had the honour of serving on the Board of Disability Intermediaries Australia, and stepping into the Acting CEO role this year. A big responsibility, a steep learning curve, and a reminder that advocacy isn’t for the faint-hearted; but it bloody matters.

We’ve also grown. Again. Around 150% growth for the third year running. Which sounds impressive (and it is), but mostly means our team has carried an enormous amount with professionalism, care, and humour intact. No small feat.

And then there was one of my favourite moments of the year, our all-organisation family adventure park weekend, where we handed out our Exceptional Team Member Awards. Watching our people be recognised, celebrated, and cheered on. That’s the stuff that sticks with you - my reason for being, what keeps me perservering.

Which brings me to now.

We’re choosing to look after our people.

Before anyone panics! Future Focus isn’t closing. We’re open, we’re steady, and we’re not disappearing into the sunset. But we are pressing pause long enough to breathe, celebrate, and remind ourselves why we started this thing in the first place. scalling back to a skeleton staff of available humans in each region, who are willing to go the distance to be there in the moments when most people are off celebrating and not thinking about work.

That means:

> A Christmas party for our bloody incredible team (yes, they’ve earned it)

> Taking a moment to feel proud instead of just tired

> Tracey and I taking a few nights away together to drink wine in a cheap hotel room with room service - back where this crazy adventure all started. Because this business needs us well, not wrecked, and just like parents raising young kids, you need time away together to keep the embers burning (and because even the most stubborn business owners need a circuit breaker)

And honestly? I get teary looking at the photos from our Christmas party. Seeing our team together, what they represent, the hope they bring, the trust they’ve placed in us, it gets me every time and I am so disgustingly proud of them. *queue the ugly snotty cry*

There is very little I wouldn’t do for these people. I’m so proud of who they are, the standards they hold, and the faith they’ve had in us and our purpose during a pretty bloody uncertain time.

So thank you. For your patience, your trust, and your belief. We’re heading into the next year a bit battle-worn, very proud, still cheeky, and absolutely still here.

Now… who’s got the wine and Christmas Pudd?

Ever Faithful, Keeley & Tracey @ Future Focus Support Coordination

Meet Aisha – 21, funny, fiercely independent, and about to start her very first job in retail. She was excited about earning her own money (and joked it was finally time to stop “borrowing Mum’s Netflix login”). But she was also nervous: in the past, decisions about her support had been made for her, not with her. What Aisha wanted most was simple — to be taken seriously, to be listened to, and to feel confident walking into her new role.

Enter Chris, her Support Coordinator at Future Focus. Chris started with one simple question: “What do you want this to look like?” From there, they made a plan. Together, they researched evidence-based workplace supports for people with autism, role-played how to explain her needs to her manager, and looked at options for short training modules that would give her an edge. When new support staff came on board, Chris double-checked they had the right skills and knew that Aisha’s goals — not theirs — set the direction.

At her first team meeting, Aisha spoke up about the adjustments that mattered to her. Afterwards she told Chris, “I felt like they actually got it this time.” Walking out of work on her first day, she was buzzing — proud, tired, and already planning what she was going to buy with her first paycheck (spoiler: New Air Jordan’s).

This is what Future Focus Support Coordination does best: keeping participants’ best interests at the centre, using skill and care to make sure every decision empowers them to succeed — and if success looks like fresh sneakers, we’re here for that too. 👟

Meet Sarah – 32, sharp-witted, loves a good pun almost as much as she loves her chihuahua, Chachi. Sarah uses a wheelchair, and Chachi is her constant sidekick — tucked into her lap at physio, watching every exercise with a suspicious side-eye. Sarah respects her physio provider. They’d always welcomed Chachi (and even slipped him the occasional treat). But when the same company kept nudging Sarah to use them for psychology too, she started to wonder: Was this really the best option for her? Or was she stuck in a Mexican stand-off — Chachi included? 🌮🐾

Enter Nicole, her Support Coordinator at Future Focus. Nicole sat down with Sarah and unpacked the situation: yes, it’s great to feel loyalty to providers who value Chachi, but real independence means looking at all options, not just the ones offered under one roof. Together, they compared psychologists, explored different approaches, and even checked which ones were Chachi-friendly (because non-negotiables are non-negotiables).

In the end, Sarah kept her beloved physio (and their dog-treat diplomacy) but chose a new psychologist who she clicked with instantly. As Sarah told Nicole later, ““Turns out I didn’t have to choose sides at all —guac was included.” 🌮✨ Chachi, of course, still thinks the physio is the best provider — but only because the treat jar lives in their office. 🦴

At Future Focus, that’s what Support Coordination is about — sniffing out the best options, avoiding ruff choices, and making sure participants never feel cornered.

Supporting the Supporters: Why Clinical Supervision Matters in Support Coordination

Support Coordination is deeply human work. It asks us to hold space for others through complexity, to stay steady when systems are not, and to help people rebuild confidence when progress feels uncertain.

It’s work that demands empathy, courage, and persistence — especially when navigating services that don’t always respond as they should. Support Coordinators are often the ones holding hope in the gaps, walking beside people when the system falters, and reminding them that change is still possible.

That’s why clinical supervision matters.
In professions like mental health and social work, it’s standard practice — a vital safeguard that allows reflection, learning, and emotional sustainability. But in the NDIS, Support Coordinators often do this complex, high-stakes work without that same structured support.

At Future Focus Support Coordination, we believe that caring for others starts with caring for the people who do the work.
We’re proud to embed reflective practice and clinical supervision into our culture — not as a tick-box exercise, but as an investment in our people, our values, and the quality of the support we deliver.

Because sustainable, ethical, trauma-informed practice isn’t just good for participants — it’s good for everyone.

If you’re a Support Coordinator who values reflection, teamwork, and genuine professional growth, you’ll find your people here. 🧡
