Our body has the innate ability to heal itself given the right building blocks in both our internal and external environments. My journey to better health has been an adventure leading me to this knowledge. This realisation, that we own the power to control our health, manifests during different times in our lives. Either way it sets us off on our path. My story was set in motion on my 10th birthd

ay. I was given a book on how to make your own beauty products using ingredients found in your home. I was hooked. At 16 I decided to "go" vegetarian and although I went back to meat in my 30s I remained a staunch advocate against testing on animals and hunting for pleasure. As a skin and beauty therapist I would seek out cruelty-free products. And later as a travel writer and editor I came to realise the impact we as consumers had on the earth. So it was only natural that when I had children I focused on the environment I was creating for them too. I aimed at feeding them as much natural foods as possible and selecting packaged food items which were additive free. The toxic chemicals in household cleaning products were also eliminated and I looked to either incorporate my own or sourcing brands which aligned with my desire for a safe home. I continued my studies becoming a wholistic health coach acknowledging the link between nutritional deficiencies and resulting health issues...looking to how I can be a better mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. And here I am, 40something and full of hope as a business owner. Hope that each one of us knows we have a right to Live, Be, Feel the best we possibly can. And that each of us deserve to access tools to create the beautiful life we envision for ourselves. My mission is to help you recognise, plan and empower you to pursue your own happy and healthy path. To take back control of your health and wellness. With guidance on creating habits through really good nutrition and reducing toxic load in your home and your beauty care, I am confident we can set you on your own yellow brick road.

Fun fact: fascinated to learn digestion takes up 40% of our body's energy output ⚡️

This stood out for me as I've just finished a 48-hour fast as part of a 30-day liver detox I do twice a year. I'm feeling really good 🥰

It’s not just about weight loss (though your body does start burning fat instead of glucose after about 16 hours). For me, it’s knowing I'm giving my body a break and letting it focus on other important biological processes.

After 24 hours, things like autophagy kick in, when your body starts clearing out old, damaged cells and reducing inflammation. By the time you hit 36-48 hours, your body goes into full-on repair mode.

Always amazed at what the body can do.

A diagnosis of something shouldn't mean the end of seeking answers.

Brain inflammation is real. Symptoms are an indication that something is out of balance in the body.

Root cause is fundamental to healing.

Medications can help as a stepping stone but the goal should be to find the root cause.

Diet and lifestyle play a huge part in reducing inflammation in the body.

One of my suggested recipes while liver cleansing - I add goats cheese when I'm not detoxing 👌

Beet and rocket salad with balsamic vinaigrette

• 3 medium beets, trimmed and scrubbed
• 5 cups rocket (arugula), washed and dried
• 1/4 cup walnuts, toasted and roughly chopped
• 1/4 cup dried cranberries (see alternatives below)
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Balsamic vinaigrette
Ingredients:
• 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
• 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
• 2-3 tablespoons water (adjust consistency to your preference)
• 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey (optional, for sweetness)
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the beets:
o Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Wrap each beet individually in foil and place on a baking sheet. Roast for about 45-60 minutes, or until the beets are tender when pierced with a fork. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
2. Make the balsamic vinaigrette:
3. In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar and Dijon mustard until well combined.
4. Gradually whisk in the water.
6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
7. Taste and adjust the flavours as needed, adding more vinegar for tanginess or sweetener for balance.

I finished another 30 day liver detox yesterday.
People always ask me how I feel. It's hard to describe but the best way to explain it is:

"I feel smarter"
"I don't feel bloated"
"I feel more connected in my brain"
"I'm not tired"
"I'm not exhausted"
"I've released weight"
"I've been sleeping really well"
"My body feels less inflamed"
"I don't feel hungry all the time"

Dark Waters - I highly recommend this for anyone who owns a saucepan..

Teflon was created by DuPont in the 1950s who marketed it as a revolutionary product. Pioneering the first non-stick "Happy Pan".

They continued to sell this product despite knowing it contained a highly toxic chemical PFOA, or C8 for short, that causes cancer in adults and birth defects in babies, and covered this up.

Today Teflon is found is most everyday items such as couches, carpets, cookware, hair appliances, car interiors, the list goes on, many items we come in contact with.

ALL HUMANS HAVE TRACES OF PFOA IN THEIR BLOOD. It is considered one of the forever chemicals.

The official line is the cookware is safe to use as long as it's not scratched.

Personally I decided not to risk it and threw away my non-stick pans a few years ago. I use safer alternatives and quite a few of my friends do the same. Please add your recommendations for what you use below so that we can all benefit from making the switch
