We're celebrating an incredible milestone. Our Director, Di, has dedicated 40 years to nursing.
Forty years of compassion, caring and putting others first.

She's supported people through life's biggest challenges, held their hands during difficult moments and been there at their last breath.

If you know Di, you'll know that she has a huge heart, a cheeky sense of humor and she will be your biggest cheerleader.

Thank you, Di, for your unwavering dedication to making a difference in so many lives.

Today is a sad day in Australia. Today the senate passed the NDIS Bill meaning huge cuts to support for people living with disabilities. Changes of which the impact will be felt mostly by those who rely on support and all of those caught in the ripple effect. The elderly parents now uncertain of care of their adult children into the future, the families of children who have complete uncertainty about what services will look like for their children, the support workers who will lose their jobs and not be able to provide the support they know their participants need and the honest people who have put their savings into building a business to ensure life enriching support for participants who will now see their security reduced or taken from them completely.

So congratulations to the Labor Party and The Coalition you will be remembered for working together to remove much needed supports in a system that you were both meant to be controlling. You admitted people into the system, you allowed fraud to rise unchecked and then blamed and punished the most vulnerable in our community for your mistakes.

To the participants we support at Exceptional Care For You I want you to know we are here for you and we see you as vital members of our community who enrich our lives every day and deserve so much better from our government and media who have made you feel like a burden on society. Please call if you need to be heard or want to seek support. We are here for you.

So now we watch this unfold, we watch loneliness, and mental health concerns rise in a country that cannot manage the current demand on mental health services. We watch more people with disabilities using the public health system as they can’t afford the care at home or are injured due to not enough support. We don’t have enough beds to meet current demand in public health. We watch families fall apart under stress, and people leave paid work to do unpaid caring (mostly women) and we will see abuse of people with disabilities rise because they will have to rely on who ever will help them.

This is the picture I want etched on your memory for the next decision you make about who to vote for in the next federal election.

A true measure of society is how we treat our most vulnerable. If that is how Australia is being judged it’s fair to say we are stuffed!
