May is EDS & HSD Awareness Month 🦓
This is now the 5th year I’ve shared content to help raise awareness around hypermobility, hEDS and HSD.
We’ve absolutely come a long way in our understanding of connective tissue disorders, but there is still a long way to go.
These slides highlight just a few of the things I wish more practitioners understood, based on years of seeing hypermobile people present after feeling dismissed, misunderstood, or unsupported within healthcare and rehab settings.
Awareness matters because it can:
✅ reduce diagnostic delay
✅ improve long-term health outcomes
✅ lead to more appropriate rehab
✅ improve patient experiences within healthcare
✅ help people better understand what’s happening in their own bodies
The goal isn’t to create fear around hypermobility.
It’s to create better recognition, better conversations, and better care.
