🧘♀️✨ Off the Beaten Yin Track: Exploring the Lesser-Known Shapes of Yin 🧘♀️✨
If you’ve been practising Yin Yoga for a while, you’re probably familiar with the foundational shapes of the practice: finding your edge, settling into a pose, getting comfortable and allowing yourself to become still.
But what happens when we move beyond the poses we know so well?
In this workshop with Vickie Liew, we’ll step outside the familiar and explore some of the lesser-known and more intriguing shapes of Yin Yoga, including the Giraffe, Water Dragon and Crossed-Arm Sphinx. These are poses you may not have encountered before, and they offer a wonderful opportunity to explore your body, your edges and your experience of Yin from a fresh perspective.
The approach draws on the work of Paul and Suzee Grilley, whose functional approach to Yin Yoga recognises that every body is different. Rather than trying to make our bodies conform to a particular shape, we’ll be curious about the function of each pose: What are we trying to access, and how does it feel in your body?
We’ll play with different variations, explore creative use of props and investigate how these less familiar shapes might open up new possibilities in your practice.
