Handwriting Holiday Group

Over the school holidays we ran our handwriting skills development group. Participants had the opportunity to intensively practice their letter formations, sizing, and placement to improve their handwriting legibility. In the group, the importance of spacing between words, pencil grip, and pencil pressure were also explored. It was great to see our participants work so hard to address some of the things they find tricky about handwriting!

If you are interested in joining one of our Holiday Groups, please let us know at [email protected] or call 1300 467 192. We run a range of groups each holidays, but spots are limited!

At Hopscotch, we are continuously working to stay up to date with what is considered best practice. One way we do this is through regularly getting together for our Journal Club!

📚 At our latest Journal Club, we worked through the National Best Practice Framework for Early Childhood Intervention, that has been put together by parents, service providers and researchers alike. We took a deep look into the framework, discussing what areas we excel at, and how we can improve others. 🔎

👓 If you would like to read the framework, it is available here:

Did you know that we know support teens? We provide support to kids aged 2-18.

Whilst we have always provided assessments services for teens we now provide ongoing therapy services as well. Here are some of Nicola’s reflections about working with teens:

“I have loved branching out into working with high school students! Working with teens is very different to working with the younger kids so there is a lot to learn and adapt to which is a really fun challenge. One of the biggest changes is the need to hand more autonomy over sessions. They are becoming young adults and therefore deserve (and need!) to have control over their therapy. I love that this brings out a strong sense of motivation and means that goals feel even more meaningful!”

If you are looking for OT support for your teen, get in contact with us today at [email protected] or calling 1300 467 192

What Makes a "Good OT"?

This is a questions we asked ourselves during our recent team meeting. By reflecting on what skills, qualities and supports we consider integral to our profession, we remind ourselves of why we became OTs and what we strive to do.

What do you think makes someone a 'Good OT'? Let us know below!
