Congratulations Tamara!

A long-term volunteer at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, Tamara Shepherd (Tammy), was awarded an Order of Australia (OAM) earlier this year, for her service to the community through charitable organisations.

Tammy has volunteered in various roles at St Vincent’s, across campuses, for over a decade. Most recently she has touched hundreds of patients’ and residents’ lives by personally sewing them face masks, fiddle blankets, syringe driver bags and healing hearts.

Tammy has also volunteered for a long list of other charities and health services, and we’re very proud that her service has been recognised.

Pictured: Tamara during a 10-week volunteer trip with Mercy Ships, an international charity operating hospital ships.

Veilomani is a Fijian word that means "the act of loving one another." The Veilomani Training is a short course for Pacific Health Care Workers to respond to GBV and improve mental health and psychosocial support for families during COVID-19. This online course is part of a pilot project co-led by Fiji National University College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, St. Vincent's Post Graduate Overseas Specialist Training Program, and UNFPA. We are grateful to Aloama and all Health Care Workers who are doing their part to end violence against women and girls.
