Congratulations to the newly-elected Co-Chairs and Members of the First People's Assembly/Gellung Warl, Meriki Onus (they/them) and Djaran Murray-Jackson (he/him).

Gellung Warl is the new body created by Australia’s first Treaty to make decisions about First Peoples, continue truth-telling and healing, and hold Government to account.

Your Community Health wholeheartedly supports the work of Gellung Warl. Treaty is a crucial step toward First Nations peoples’ self-determination, justice and equity. We recognise that First Nations peoples are experts on their own communities, cultures, lands, and health. We believe that Treaty will help remove the barriers that have marginalised First Nations peoples for generations, leading to improved health and wellbeing.

We look forward to working with Gellung Warl in this new Treaty era, as we step towards a future where First Peoples’ voices are heard, rights are respected, and justice is realised for generations to come.

This week is National Reconciliation Week. The theme this year is All In, a reminder that this work belongs to all of us.

We began our formal journey with our Kaydo Kertheba (walk together) plan. But reconciliation is bigger than a plan. It lives in how we design our services, how we show up for First Nations community members, and how we build relationships that are grounded in trust and cultural safety.

We know there is more work to do, and we are committed to doing it alongside our First Nations staff, volunteers and community members.

We acknowledge and pay deep respects to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work.

Today is National Sorry Day. We acknowledge the Stolen Generations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities.

This year's theme is From Sorry to Action. We stand with survivors and their families in calling for the changes that are still needed. We believe that quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone in our community and we are committed to providing care that is safe, culturally responsive, and healing-centred.

Did you know food waste costs the average household more than $2,500 a year?
Most of us throw out twice as much food as we think. Small changes, like storing food correctly, planning meals flexibly, and starting with smaller servings, can make a real difference. For your wallet and for the planet.
