There are things I wish I’d understood when I was younger. How to say no without a lengthy explanation. How to trust myself without asking five other people first. How to stop making myself smaller to keep everyone else comfortable.

I’m still working on some of them, if I’m honest.

But these are the things I hope the girls growing up now hear often enough to believe. And if you’re a grown woman reading this, they’re for you too.

BE YOURSELF. BACK YOURSELF. Words I wanted on a bangle because sometimes we need that reminder right where we can see it.

Worry about what people will think. Wonder if you’re good enough. Ask everyone else what they’d do.
