Did you make a New Year's resolution? How's that going?

Did you brush your teeth yesterday? Will you brush them tomorrow?

The difference?

One's a habit. One's just a plan.

Here's the thing about wellbeing – it's not built on grand resolutions. It's built on small, consistent actions woven into the cracks and crevices of our everyday lives.

Think about elite athletes. They build recovery into their training - it's not something 'extra'.

You're running your own version of a marathon – whether you're managing a complex case or rebuilding your life after separation / divorce.

Over time, with consistent repetition, these small habits become hardwired traits. They become a set of wellbeing skills you have for life.

So forget the big, dramatic overhauls.

This week, ask yourself: What's one small thing I can do today to mind my mojo?

Because as neurosurgeon James Doty said: "Mindset sets the tone of our life."

I support two sides of the family law ecosystem. Lawyer wellbeing + client clarity = a sustainable practice that serves everyone. Retainer arrangements available for law firms who want consistent support for both their team and their clients who are stuck. If you're curious about how this could work in your practice, let's talk.

So... my beach reading this summer is a book called Why We Die: The New Science of Longevity.

I know, I know. Not exactly typical summer fare. πŸ˜…

But hear me out – it's written by Venki Ramakrishnan, a Nobel Prize-winning biologist, and it's actually really interesting! Biology can be equal parts fascinating and fun.

The book mentions the Living to 100 Life Expectancy Calculator which I obviously had to try. The results?

Apparently if I cut back on coffee, I might live 6 months longer.

Which made me pause and think: Would I trade that daily coffee for 6 extra months of life?

It's such an interesting question about quality vs. quantity, isn't it? How we want to live vs. how long we want to live. What truly matters to our sense of wellbeing and joy in the everyday?

The calculator might not be perfect, but it definitely made me reflect on intentionality and what I value.

So, tell me – would you give up something you love for a few extra months of life? What would you trade, and what wouldn't you?

Here's something I learned from Angeles Arrien's work: there are four universal healing salves - dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence.

When we stop engaging with these, we lose parts of ourselves.

Dancing, in particular, is the Warrior's way to retrieve what's been lost or unremembered. And that's exactly what we'll do on 1 February - not a dance party (though movement will be involved!), but a practice of reconnecting with the parts of yourself that have gone quiet.

Our bodies tell us what we need. That's the science. Interpreting it is an art. And it can be a little magical when we learn the language of our bodies to help keep ourselves well.

The mini retreat is about this: showing up, choosing to be present, and embodying what you stand for…and, having a bit of fun.

πŸ‘‹ Monday Business Post - Hi, I'm Angela Smith, and my Elwood-based business is Mind Your Mojo.

As a certified coach, I support people as they recalibrate after the life quake of divorce, and I help their lawyers to prevent and manage burnout. That quote stopped me in my tracks when I first read it, and it's become central to how I understand the Warrior archetype.

The contemporary Warrior isn't about fighting - it's about presence, accountability, and the courage to be vulnerable. It's about knowing what you stand for, what has heart and meaning for you.

At my event in Feb, we'll explore this through:
β€’ Meditation to embody what you stand for,
β€’ Mindful movement to reconnect with your body's wisdom,
β€’ The four universal healing salves: dancing, singing, storytelling, silence.

There's an art and science to wellbeing and recalibration. To building and rebuilding. This retreat gives you the space and practices to do exactly that.

The stories of our lives are written in our bodies.

Our body tells us what we need - that's the science. Interpreting it is an art. And it can be a little magical when we learn the language of our bodies to help keep ourselves well.

This is the work we'll do at my upcoming mini retreat: connecting with the Warrior archetype through embodied practice. Not the warrior ready for battle, but the one who demonstrates courageous vulnerability.

The one who knows that ferocity exists not only to destroy, but to give us sufficient strength and courage to live with compassion and integrity.

Experience the warrior's way of retrieving lost parts of ourselves - because according to shamanic traditions, when we stop dancing, singing, or being comfortable with silence, we encounter soul loss.

This retreat offers space to reflect. To reconnect. To embody what you stand for.

This quote perfectly captures the Warrior archetype we'll explore at the retreat.

This isn't about being aggressive or armoured. It's about courageous vulnerability - knowing when to draw the line and when to hold the line. Having the strength to live with compassion and integrity.

At the retreat, we'll move through yoga's warrior poses to physically experience:
β†’ What it feels like to take a step back to gain perspective,
β†’ What it feels like to step forward, to show up, to make things right.

Because the stories of our lives are written in our bodies, and sometimes we need to slow down enough to read what they're telling us.

Let's talk about the whispers before they become screams.

Your body and behaviour will tell you when boundaries need reinforcing - usually long before things hit crisis mode.

I see these patterns all the time with people who are slowly giving themselves away without realising it.

Good news? Once you spot them, you can do something about them. It all starts with awareness, right?

Swipe to see if any of these sound familiar β†’
