The Primary Care Nursing and Midwifery Scholarship (PCNMS) program supports registered nurses and midwives to complete postgraduate study to support working in primary care.

Funding has been provided by the Australian Government and the scholarships will be administered by the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP).

Can you see yourself in an advanced role? As a nurse practitioner or endorsed midwife, you can work independently and autonomously at an advanced level. This includes being able to prescribe medicines, diagnose health problems, order and interpret diagnostic tests, formulate treatment plans and refer to other clinicians.

New virtual workshop added in October! | Prescribing & Pharmacology interactive workshops build on your prior knowledge, with an emphasis on the Nurse Practitioner’s role in safe and effective prescribing, using a patient-centred approach.

There are two workshops running in September and October!
🔹Adelaide | 17 September (after the ACNP National Conference)
🔹Virtual | 14, 21 & 28 October

A new interactive workshop with Dr Jenny Gowan has been developed for 2026/2027, and the course will offer sessions focused on key areas faced by NPs, including case studies as well as real-life applications.

Session includes:
🔹Practice issues and updates
🔹Prescribing updates
🔹Management of disease states and pain

We are thrilled to have Chelsea Willmott, from New Zealand, join us as a keynote speaker at the ACNP National Conference this month!

Chelsea is the Chair & Operational Lead of Nurse Practitioners New Zealand. Chelsea works clinically as an NP in Rural Primary Healthcare in New Zealand. She is an experienced national healthcare leader, senior lecturer and academic having worked in the NZ national NP training programme.
