Exercise physiology can help reduce the burden on Australia’s healthcare system.
The Canberra Times covered the launch of our new Deloitte report at Parliament House today.
The article highlights how exercise physiologists have helped avoid more than 600,000 hospital admissions and freed up more than 400,000 hospital bed days.
Katie Lyndon, ESSA CEO and Accredited Exercise Physiologist, is featured in the article saying, ''Knowing what we know now, it makes no sense that Australians living with chronic disease, disability, injury and mental health conditions should have to pay an additional 10 per cent for this essential health care," she said.
The article also featured the voices of people with lived experience of falls who attended the launch to advocate for the removal of GST from exercise physiology.
Peter Lawson, who ended up in hospital after a fall, told the Canberra Times, “I was put in a wheelchair and it was an exercise physiologist who got me out of it.”
