Or if we’re being fancy, deconstructed apple crumble 😉

2 tablespoons of stewed apple daily can help with bile flow and to improve gut health through its prebiotic fibre feeding our good guys in the gut.

Tigernuts are actually not a nut at all, they’re a tuber, and they’re naturally sweet and high in a fibre called resistant starch. As the name suggests, this type of fibre resists digestion and helps to feed our gut bacteria to produce short chain fatty acids, the most notable being butyrate. Butyrate is not only a source of fuel for our gut cells, it can also enter the body and help to regulate our blood sugar and immune system. So when it comes to butyrate, the more the better!

Recipe:
✨ stewed apples
(Additional extras can include: cinnamon, raisins, berries, rhubarb etc)
✨ tigernut flour
✨ crushed nuts of choice (optional)
✨ fresh fruit to serve (optional)
✨ yogurt of choice (optional, I prefer a fermented sheep yogurt as it’s gentle on the gut, and with all the prebiotics in this dessert, you’re sending off your yogurt probiotics with a little packed lunch!)

Once you have all the ingredients, chuck them in a bowl and go for it! It doesn’t need to look fancy to be tasty 😋. Not only is this an (added) sugar and grain free dessert, it’s easy, it’s tasty, it can help to regulate your blood sugar, your immune system, your inflammation and improve your gut health. Not bad for one little, ugly looking dessert 🙃.

*If you like warm stewed apples, heat them up before you put the tigernut flour on. Heating the tigernuts can destroy some of their resistant starch.

A big question over the last decade has been: Do deodorants cause breast cancer? The honest answer to this is, there is not enough evidence to definitively prove it. It also has less to do with deodorant as a whole, and more to do with the health effects that the specific chemicals used in the deodorant have.
The bad news is, there is more than enough definitive evidence to support the fact that chemicals used in certain deodorants, cleaning products, and beauty products such as hair dye, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, makeup, nail polish, etc can cause serious health consequences such as allergies, hormone system disruption and cancer.
But do we absorb these things through our skin? The short answer is yes. The long answer is that yes, the skin is a barrier, it’s one of our first lines of defence. However it can also absorb chemicals, and remember that a lot of our beauty products are DESIGNED to pe*****te the skin. Products that pe*****te the skin can also end up directly in our blood stream without going through the normal detoxification processes of other chemicals we consume (ie through the liver).
So what can we do about it? There are many easy ways to reduce your exposure to toxic chemicals, and therefore endocrine disruption and possible cancer - you can check your beauty products though the Environmental Working Groups Skin Deep website (https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/) and replace them healthier alternatives. You can also use the Think Dirty app to scan barcodes for your products to check their toxicity. Or, you can make your own so you know exactly what’s in them! (It’s also a great step towards more sustainable living too 😊)
HOMEMADE DEODORANT

2 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp bentonite clay
2 tbsp arrowroot
2 tbsp bicarb soda
10 drops peppermint oil
5 drops tea tree oil
5 drops oregano oil
3 drops orange oil
2 drops clove oil
1 drop eucalyptus oil
- melt coconut oil and mix all ingredients together. *Beware, some of these ingredients may irritate sensitive skin*

We have arrived! (A day late and a buck short). Spread Love, Not Rona: your skin-loving beauty mask. Yeah, we get it, every man and their dog is selling masks, or already has one. No worries, that’s excellent. This small batch run was inspired by the fact we wanted to make something that changed the story around wearing masks, and help with the resistance to it. We realise they are a symbol of fear and we wanted to make something that represented love, community and a sense of looking after each other, which is why we’re wearing them. We also wanted to make something that you would choose to wear, rather than be forced to wear.
With this in mind, we lined the masks with copper infused cotton. Mainly because, well, ageing right? Copper is an essential nutrient in the production of collagen, and copper based fabrics can help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Win! As an added bonus, it also has antimicrobial properties. So, if you’re going to have something on your face all day, might as well treat yo’self and your skin. On the bright side, the longer you wear them, the more radiant you’ll become (inside and out).

It’s the simple pleasures in life that matter. Iso sunshine treats 🌞 - sometimes the best thing we can do for our health is to do the things that make us happy.
Cheese thanks to
Alfresco breakfast - Green banana flour and arrowroot crepes with oven baked salmon, onion, capers, dill, society garlic, cucumber; fresh lettuce, sorrel and salt bush from the garden; fermented garlic; sheep yogurt; and my all time favourite salad - shredded red cabbage, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of Celtic sea salt. It doesn’t sound like much, but it will change your life.
