Meet Sarah, one of the newest participants in cape's My Life, My Future (MLMF) program. MLMF is a vocational program that supports young people with a disability to build a personalised pathway to employment—guided by their goals, interests, and strengths.

Delivered across two welcoming locations in Nunawading and Broadmeadows, participants like Sarah develop real‑world skills through hands‑on training in our cafés and nursery, as well as community experiences such as delivering Meals on Wheels and providing customer service at local leisure centres.

With small group ratios and flexible NDIS‑funded options, MLMF offers tailored coaching and support every step of the journey.

A little burst of sunshine on a grey Melbourne week.

While these moments were captured at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show a couple of months ago, they still bring plenty of colour, creativity and joy to our day.

Our Independent Living group had a wonderful time exploring the gardens, soaking up the displays, and enjoying a day out together in the community. From vibrant installations to unique finds, there was so much to see and experience.

It’s days like these that remind us how important it is to get out, connect, and enjoy the simple things; no matter the season.

Talk about an exciting couple of weeks for the cape community!

We are pleased to announce that Nepean Centre is also joining cape group, securing the future of vital respite services for children and families in Melbourne’s south.

Supporting children is where cape began in 1967 and we’re truly honoured to get back to our roots and carry forward Nepean Centre’s proud legacy.

The purpose-built Seaford home will continue to provide high-quality, flexible short-term accommodation and support for children aged 4 to 17 with higher support needs.

With two wonderful organisations joining us in quick succession, we want to reassure all participants, families, and staff that we are taking a staged and considered approach to both transitions, ensuring that Monkami in the east and Nepean Centre in the south receive the same dedicated focus and care they deserve.

Big news for our community!

To provide even better support for NDIS participants in Melbourne’s east, Monkami will be joining cape group 🙌

Participants can expect to see more choices for housing, jobs, and community participation.

We’re excited to welcome Monkami’s participants, families, and staff to cape and look forward to carrying forward its legacy.

Our My Life My Future (MLMF) participants Eleanor and Rachel recently completed a work experience placement at Sky High Mount Dandenong and we couldn’t be prouder.

From helping with day-to-day hospitality tasks to keeping spaces clean, safe and welcoming, Eleanor and Rachel showed great commitment and a positive attitude. Along the way they practised communication, teamwork and time management in a real workplace setting; building confidence with every shift.

A heartfelt thank you to the team SkyHigh Mount Dandenong for the warm welcome and ongoing support. Inclusive local partnerships like this create meaningful opportunities and help open doors to future employment.

At cape, we believe the first year of service is a significant milestone; a time that reflects growth, learning, and commitment.
From January to April, we celebrated 17 employees who reached their one‑year anniversary with us. Each of these milestones represents dedication, teamwork, and the valuable contribution our people make every day.
Congratulations to all of our first‑year achievers — we’re so pleased to have you as part of the cape family and look forward to what’s ahead!
