Too social to be Autistic. Too organised to have ADHD.
If you’ve heard either, you might be very good at masking.

Most of us at Mindkit were identified later in life too. Our whole clinical team is neurodivergent, which shapes how we understand masking alongside the clinical training and measures used in every assessment.

Our Autism and ADHD assessments look beyond the core criteria to masking, monotropism, demand avoidance, alexithymia, interoception, burnout, and the way gender and sexuality intersect with neurotype.

What a first day!

I was really heartened to hear Sonny Jane Wise deconstruct the diagnostic criteria for highly stigmatised personality differences like NPD and BPD, reflecting on how internal experiences drive survival behaviours that are so often pathologised.

Marie Camin, Clinical Psychologist Camin spoke wonderfully to the intergenerational impacts of unidentified Autistic needs.

A brilliant panel, “Autism and Chronic Health Conditions: Beyond the Basics”, with Bianca Comfort, Dr JasonLam, A/Prof Josephine Barbaro, Monique Mitchelson and Lumen Gorrie - I particularly loved the segment on medical self-advocacy (if I may versify: a little ingratiation; request documentation!)

Amrit Grewal gave her first conference presentation on the OCD of being “good”, and the invisible moral suffering that so often goes unseen in neurodivergent people.

Among various others.

We’re here all day today at the LOAPAC expo. Come and say hi. :)
