Life has been full and itās been a while since my last reclamation postā¦
I notice the self judgemental part of me using it as am******on:
āYou started this series, an experiment in radical self-acceptance, and then you got busy and disappeared⦠pathetic. Youāre hiding again.ā
Maybe I am hiding. And maybe this is yet another opportunity for radical self-acceptance.
You see, in the past when I would notice myself āhidingā I would make myself wrong for that. I would view it as ābadā. Telling myself I āshouldnātā hide. That I needed to be be okay being seen, putting myself out there.
But as I continue this path of inner exploration. Of reclamation. Of shadow work and alchemy. I realise now that by making the part of me that wants to hide bad or wrong, Iām further suppressing it.
Rather than loving it, getting curious about it, understanding why it doesnāt feel safe and feels the need to hide, it pushes it deeper into the shadows.
In turn that actually makes the hiding worse. Because it adds to the shame, the guilt, the feeling that there is something wrong with this part of me.
So instead of hiding the part of me that wants to hide. I get the opportunity to reclaim it.
Sometimes I hide.
Sometimes I want to hide.
Sometimes it feels easier not to be seen.
Sometimes I feel that itās not safe to show certain parts of myself.
Sometimes I feel that I can only show up in certain ways.
So yeah, I hide.
Parts of me are still hidden, even from myself. We all have a shadow, blindspots, things about ourselves we donāt yet know and parts of ourselves we are yet to meet.
But thatās why Iām here. Thatās what this experiment of RECLAMATION is all about.
To bring to light the parts of me that Iāve previously hidden. To show you that when there is nothing to hide, there is everything to gain. To show you the freedom that comes from radical self-acceptance.
& to meet more parts of myself that have previously been hidden from my view. To take you along for the ride.
So Iām back. You can expect more reclamation posts in the days and weeks to come.
Until then⦠Iāll be hiding š (or maybe just living my life off the screen).
