August was a busy one for the Smileyscope team! đź’™

It’s been a month full of hospital visits, staff training, catching up with clinicians and one very special Make-A-Wish. ✨

We love getting out and about, connecting with healthcare teams and seeing Smileyscope in action.

Here’s a little look at what we got up to in August! 👀

Last week was CAN GIVE DAY đź’™

We were so excited to see Smileyscope included in this year’s CAN GIVE DAY, helping raise funds to bring more Smileyscope headsets to Canberra Hospital.

Canberra Daily shared the story of Archer, who was given a Smileyscope headset for distraction while waiting for surgery after breaking his arm. His mum’s verdict? “He loved it.” ✨

This year’s wish list included $30,000 for Smileyscope headsets, helping more kids like Archer feel distracted and comforted during frightening or painful procedures.

A huge thank you to Canberra Hospitals Foundation and everyone who got behind CAN GIVE DAY!

It's fantastic to see the impact community support can have. đź’›
Thank you to Wishlist for helping bring Smileyscope to Nambour Hospital, making medical procedures less stressful for children and their families. Every child deserves a calmer healthcare experience!

đź’› Because of the generosity of our community, Wishlist recently funded a Smileyscope for Nambour Hospital, helping children feel calmer and less afraid during medical procedures.

Whether it's a blood test, injection, wound dressing or plaster, Smileyscope transports children into a fun, immersive virtual world, helping reduce anxiety during some of their toughest moments.

For many children, the fear can be just as overwhelming as the procedure itself. Something as simple as this can make a world of difference - for children, their families and the healthcare teams caring for them.

This Dental Health Week, we're celebrating our innovative partners making dental visits less scary 🦷✨

At Melbourne Dental School, Associate Professor Mihiri Silva and her team are helping young children feel calmer during preventative check-ups and dental visits. Using Smileyscope's VR technology, kids aged 3–5 can relax during their appointment instead of feeling anxious. As A/Prof Silva explains: "Early, and regular dental check-ups are critical in preventing dental disease, so finding ways to make visits calm and enjoyable is key."

The feedback is encouraging! Children feel more comfortable and positive about their visits. And it's not just for children: Smileyscope is also helping adults with disabilities to have a better, calmer dental experience too. It's a small change with a big impact: helping people of all ages to have calmer dental experiences.
