Meet

Breastfeeding shouldn’t make you curl your toes. And you don’t need a problem to reach out, sometimes the most valuable visit is the one where Georgie says “you’re doing brilliantly.”
Georgie is an endorsed midwife, IBCLC, and mum to Poppy. The Latch Lady offers home visits across Sydney’s inner west, clinic consults in Annandale, and intimate antenatal Breastfeeding Ready workshops.

PS Medicare rebates apply antenatally and up to 6 weeks postpartum. Please don’t let cost be the reason you don’t reach out.

Today: The Sick Sense.

It’s the one thing every parent wishes they’d done before everything else. What could be more important?

Meet Ilana, Paediatric Nurse Consultant, a decade in paediatric emergency, and a mum. She founded .sick.sense because of the gap she kept seeing, parents stuck between Googling and ending up in ED “just in case,” and clinicians wishing families had been taught the stuff that would have let them stay home with confidence (or come in sooner, when it mattered).
She teaches how to recognise when a child is getting sicker, before it’s a crisis. Red flags for fever, breathing, rash, hydration, head injury. CPR and choking response you can recall under pressure. When to stay home, when to see a GP, when to go to ED.
It’s not fear-based. It’s the opposite. Muscle memory + a decision-making framework, the things that let you trust your gut and act on it.
Your child getting sick or hurt isn’t an IF. It’s a WHEN. 💛

Why doesn’t anyone talk more about this?

When you’re pregnant, you hear a lot about what the baby will need.
But very little about what might help your body feel supported as it heals.
Compression wear is one of those quietly brilliant tools many women discover only after birth, when they realise how much their core, pelvic floor and circulation have been through.
Think of it as a gentle layer of support.
A little more stability.
A little less heaviness.
A little more comfort as your body rebuilds.

Not to change your body. Simply to help you feel more supported in the one carrying everything.

We have a detailed article explaining how compression works and when it may help during pregnancy, postpartum and beyond, in our ‘Learn’ section on our site www.notanotheronesie.com.au

We’ve also handpicked our favorite pieces from The Reason Why (TheRY) and you will find them in the NAO motherhood store - The Mama Edit.

Because sometimes the most valuable gifts for new mothers aren’t for the baby at all.

They’re the ones that help her heal.

Motherhood is an initiation, you weren’t given the map for … until now.

Meet Philippa Scott, founder of - maternal transitions doula and trauma therapist (TRTP), creator of the Mother Awakening Cycle.

She works with mothers who know something needs to change but don’t yet have the language for what’s happening; the rage that arrives too fast, the depletion sleep doesn’t fix, the moment you heard your mother’s voice come out of your own mouth and went very still.

Most of these women have already done work. Therapy, books, strategies. They’ve moved intellectually but not shifted in the body. What they’re missing isn’t more insight. It’s the map.
Philippa works across three layers at once: the body, the unconscious, and the generational thread. The first thing that shifts is the shame, when a woman understands she’s in a recognisable, mappable stage, she stops reading her experience as failure and starts reading it as signal.

Motherhood is so often lived in the quiet, ordinary moments.
The sleepy cuddles on the couch.
The way they melted into you when they needed comfort.
Moments that can feel small and fleeting while you are in them, yet somehow become the ones that hold the deepest meaning over time.
Photographs like these help tell the story of how deeply your children were loved, not just in the big milestones, but in the everyday tenderness that made up their world.
A beautiful reminder that the ordinary moments were never ordinary at all. This is your story, and you belong in the frame too mama.

The Support Edit puts the spotlight on the support every mama deserves to know about.

Meet .nutritionist

If Kelly found herself with postnatal depletion, while she was literally studying nutrition, it’s happening to a lot of you too. And it doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it just feels like “not quite yourself.” Bone-deep tired. Hair falling out in the shower. Brain fog. Most mums put it down to “that’s just motherhood.”

Kelly is a Certified Practising Nutritionist, mum of two, with two degrees plus specialist training in pregnancy, postpartum and infant nutrition. Her online clinic works across Australia, covering the first 1,000 days, preconception through your baby’s second birthday, plus perimenopause.
The thing most mums don’t realise: postpartum nutrition is MORE complex than pregnancy nutrition. Your nutrient needs are HIGHER after the baby arrives, not lower. No one tells you this. It’s why so many of us feel flat at the six- and twelve-month marks. It’s not in your head. It’s in the data. And it’s completely addressable.

What if you don’t need a different person for every problem?
Melbourne Postpartum Services - ( MPS ) exists in a space most postpartum families didn’t know was possible. Their support sits between a postpartum doula, a consult-level baby specialist, and a mental-health-savvy conversation, because in real life, sleep, feeding, regulation and how you’re feeling underneath all of it are never actually separate.
Sessions are in-home, relational, hands-on, evidence-based. Someone beside you while you feed. Someone helping you notice what’s happening with this baby, not the average baby in a textbook. The same practitioners carry your family’s context from session to session, so you never start over.
The philosophy underneath: most parents don’t need more advice. They need permission and tools to trust their own.

This kind of support has the quiet power to change so much for new families ❤️
