The truth is, that striving for perfection can often hold us back. When we obsess over every detail, we delay progress and miss opportunities. Embracing "good enough" allows us to take action, learn from experience, and build momentum. It's a reminder that perfection isn't always the goal—sometimes, simply moving forward is more powerful than waiting for everything to be flawless.

Something to try when you're feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or caught in a spiral of self-criticism. It’s a quick pause to remind yourself that it’s okay to be imperfect, and that you deserve kindness—especially from yourself. Whether you’re facing setbacks, feeling anxious, or just needing a reset, taking a self-compassion break helps ground you and refocus with a gentler mindset.

Self-compassion is about treating yourself with the same care and understanding you'd offer a friend. It’s built on three key elements: (1) mindfulness, which helps you acknowledge your struggles without judgment; (2) common humanity, the reminder that everyone faces challenges and you’re not alone; and (3) self-kindness, offering yourself warmth and support instead of harsh criticism. Together, these elements create a powerful tool for resilience and emotional wellbeing.

Starting by saying; "This is a moment of suffering", then, "Suffering is a part of life". Then pick 1 - 2 of the sentences that resonate most with you (from #3). Repeat as you need.

We love this practice. Hope you do too! x

Feedback. Let’s be real—many of us dread the thought of it. But here’s the thing: good feedback is absolutely critical for career success. Did you know that a lack of feedback—or worse, inadequate feedback—can actually derail your career? Here are four reasons why, and how it might be holding you back more than you realise.

Increased uncertainty. Without feedback, it’s tough to know if you’re meeting expectations or missing the mark. This can cause self-doubt and make it harder to stay focused.

Lack of direction. When feedback is unclear, you’re left guessing what actually matters. This can mean you’re spending time on things that aren’t moving you toward your goals (... or those of the organisation). Over time, this can lead to burnout and frustration.

Unrecognised effort. Without feedback, it’s easy to feel like your efforts are invisible. You're likely to lose motivation and energy.

No path for growth. Without meaningful feedback, it’s hard to know where to improve. You might start to feel stuck with no clear path forward.

If you want more useful feedback, here are some things to consider:

Be specific. Instead of asking, “How am I doing?” try, “Can you share your thoughts on my recent project and areas where I could improve?” or “What strengths do you see in my work that I should build on?” If you have already identified a development goal already, you might ask, "This year, I want to develop .... Did you have any feedback from my recent project that might help me with this?"

Request regular check-ins. If feedback only comes at annual reviews, suggest monthly or quarterly check-ins with the person you report to. These don’t have to be formal—just short sessions to discuss your progress, goals, and any adjustments you could make.

Seek diverse perspectives. The best insights come from those working alongside you—not just the person you report to. Ask for feedback from a trusted peer, or a client / customer. Diverse feedback can offer fresh perspectives and actionable insights from those in your sphere of influence.

“Rather than sitting on the sidelines and hurling judgment and advice, we must dare to show up and let ourselves be seen. This is vulnerability.” — Brene Brown

Vulnerability means letting people see who we truly are, flaws and all. And whilst this can be frightening, it’s also where connection, growth, and fulfillment happen. By daring to show up, we invite deeper relationships and meaningful experiences that we can’t find from the sidelines.
.. and that's what our Relationship Cards are all about—sparking vulnerability and building closeness and connection. Curated by psychologists, the cards have 112 questions to ask and to answer to facilitate disclosure, reciprocity, trust, and closeness in your most important relationships. These aren’t the superficial, chit-chat kind of questions. They’re the complex and (mostly) serious ones — questions like, “How would other people describe you?”, “What’s one thing you would change about the way you were raised?”

“Is this helping me, or hurting me?” This question might seem simple, but it’s a powerful tool for self-reflection. Taking a moment to ask yourself this can be a GAME CHANGER in your work and life. It prompts you to consider whether your thoughts, feelings, and / or actions are actually moving you forward or holding you back.

Take a moment and give it a try. By making it a habit, you’ll begin to realise what truly aligns with your values and aspirations .. and you’ll start making choices that empower you.

4. You’re not developing: If you feel stagnant in your role and aren’t developing new skills or improving existing ones, it may be because your strengths aren’t being fully utilised.
