This time of year can be a tough one for horses that struggle with allergies, heaves, mucus or sensitive airways.
Here in Ontario, we can go from warm summer days to cool mornings and evenings pretty quickly. Those temperature and humidity changes, along with the change in air quality, can make things a little harder on our horses’ respiratory systems.
And then there’s the pollen! 🌿😅
September is still a big month for seasonal allergies, especially with late-season weeds like ragweed putting a LOT of pollen into the air. Add in dust, mold spores and everything else floating around, and it’s no wonder some horses start showing those familiar signs again.
If you’ve noticed your horse coughing more, having more mucus, flaring their nostrils or just not seeming quite as comfortable with their breathing, now is a great time to give their respiratory system a little extra support. 💚
