One of the most meaningful parts of aged care is taking the time to truly sit with people, listen to their stories and understand what matters most to them.

Last week, Jeroen Veugelers, CEO of Dovida Netherlands, joined Community Engagement Officer Anne Diver on a care consult visit with Maureen and her daughter Jude. What stood out throughout the afternoon was not discussion around funding or systems, but the warmth, connection and genuine relationships shared around the room.

They were also joined by Maureen’s neighbour Joyce, who spoke about her own experience with Dovida, both through support provided to her late husband Doug and now as a client herself. Hearing those lived experiences firsthand was incredibly special.

There was laughter, storytelling and a beautiful sense of companionship that reminded everyone why relationship-based care matters so much.

Jude later shared how meaningful it was to see senior leadership taking the time to visit families directly and experience these moments firsthand. It was a powerful reminder that the lived experience of older people and families can never truly be understood from behind a desk alone.

Thank you to Maureen and Jude for so warmly welcoming us into your home and allowing us to share this special moment. Good care is never just about tasks, it is about people, trust, dignity and relationships.

10-16th May is National Palliative Care week. This campaign opens conversations, raises awareness and advocates for better access to and acceptance of palliative and end of life care.

Dovida has a monthly Palliative Care Community of Practice, where staff are able to focus on different topics each month and have the opportunity to participate in group discussions.

A warm Dovida welcome to Mariana. Mariana recently joined the Dovida Melbourne Inner North office in a Care Manager role and has shared a little about herself.

I have been a Nurse with over 25 years of experience in the aged care sector. I began my career working in residential aged care facilities and retirement villages, where I developed a strong foundation in supporting the health and wellbeing of older adults.

For the past 10 years, I have worked in community care, providing personalised, client-focused support that enables individuals to remain independent in their own homes. I am passionate about delivering high-quality care and am committed to ensuring that every client is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Outside of my professional life, I love the outdoors, walking, swimming and anything outdoors. I love animals. I have 2 beautiful cats that are my joy.

Please join us in welcoming Jo to the Dovida Melbourne Inner North office team. Jo recently joined the office in a Client Services Coordinator role and has shared a little about herself.

I have recently moved from Tassie and have been involved in disability support, mainly, for 25 years with assorted roles.

I am blessed to have 3 grown children and absolutely thrilled to be a grammy to a 4 year old granddaughter and a 1 year old
grandson.

Join us in welcoming Phoebe to the Melbourne Inner North office!

Phoebe moved to Melbourne in June 2025 from Canberra where her family live. Her youngest brother lives with Autism which makes her passionate about making sure everyone can get the best care possible.

She started her career working in a scheduling team for a disability support provider in Canberra where she found her love for all things scheduling.

When Phoebe is not at work, she loves exploring Melbourne and when the weathers dreary she loves all things Marvel from movies to video games even some comics!

Congratulations to our Caregiver of the Quarter! From January to March 2026, we celebrate and congratulate Narelle.

Narelle started her Caregiving journey with Dovida in July 2024. Narelle came to us with a wealth of knowledge from her nursing career and has continually excelled in all areas of her Caregiver role.

In her day-to-day duties, Narelle is reliable, responsible and enthusiastically assists with whatever services she can (even on her days off!) Narelle provides comprehensive feedback and reports any concerns or changes in clients wellbeing to their coordinators for Care Managers to follow up.

Narelle is a hard worker whose honesty, reliability and compassion make her an asset to our organisation. She constantly and consistently demonstrates tremendous effort in providing quality service and care.
