On 21 May, our own Gregory Tucker took the stage at the SHIFT 2026 Conference, a gathering of leaders in disability enterprise, peak bodies and government hosted by the Centre for Inclusive Employment, Centre for Social Impact Swinburne and White Box Enterprises.

Greg co presented with Catherine McAlpine from Inclusion Australia on the Supported Employment & Advocacy (SEA) Project. He shared insights about his role on the project and why it matters for people with an intellectual disability to have accessible information about their employment rights and work options.

The conference, held at the Amora Herencia Riverwalk Melbourne, brought together voices committed to building a more inclusive employment future. We’re incredibly proud of Greg’s leadership and advocacy.

We’re not going back!

We’ve heard your concerns and we want to continue listening and advocating for change.

Come to the Advocacy in Action Conference and join people with disability, families, advocates and community members for important conversations about the proposed NDIS reforms and what they could mean for our community.

People with disability fought hard for inclusion, rights and community participation - and those voices must continue to be heard.

Today is National Sorry Day - a day to acknowledge and remember the Stolen Generations, and reflect on the ongoing impact of past government policies on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

It is also an important reminder that reconciliation requires truth-telling, listening and action.

As we move into National Reconciliation Week 2026 (27 May - 3 June), VALID is proud to be All In for reconciliation.

VALID recently spoke about the proposed expansion of mandatory NDIS provider registration on 3CR Radio. The full interview is linked in the comments.

Our position on NDIS provider registration is that a thoughtful, nuanced and co-designed approach with people with intellectual and other disabilities, their family members and advocates is essential. Anything other than this is not acceptable.

Image description: Text says, ‘The NDIS Bill should not pass as-is’. Image is a group of protestors and includes a placard that reads ‘Fight today for a better tomorrow’. VALID’s logo is in the bottom right-hand corner, and the background is VALID’s blue and orange.
