Your favourite retinol creams forgot to mention this…

Most high-end retinol products use synthetic retinol or precursor forms that your skin must convert before they work.

What they don’t tell you is that nature already made a form your skin can use immediately:
natural, preformed retinol (Vitamin A) found in grass-fed tallow.

Because it’s already in its active form, natural retinol from tallow can be:

• More gentle
• More bioavailable
• Less irritating
• Better supported by natural Vitamins D, E & K2 (also found in tallow)

Natural retinol helps:

• Support collagen and firmness
• Smooth fine lines + texture
• Brighten uneven tone
• Reduce congestion
• Strengthen the skin barrier
• Improve overall skin resilience

In our tallow, Vitamin A comes exactly as nature intented: pure and in its natural form.

Why is tallow important for skincare?

Tallow contains several key fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins that support healthy skin. Let’s first explain the role of the fatty acids:

Because tallow shares a very similar fatty acid profile to human skin lipids (especially sebum), the skin recognises these fats and absorbs them more easily.

When skin cells are able to build effective cell membranes with the right fatty acids, the skin’s barrier becomes stronger. A strong barrier helps retain water inside the cells, and as a result you become better moisturised.

Beyond fatty acids, tallow also contains fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) and other nutrients that support skin health.

Vitamin A supports cell turnover and repair, promoting smoother, healthier skin.

Vitamin D helps with skin regeneration and can assist in wound healing.

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects skin cells from damage caused by free radicals. This prevents aging

Vitamin K supports elasticity and helps reduce the appearance of redness or uneven tone.

After two great markets and with our third coming up in Caulfield, I wanted to take a moment to answer a question I’ve been getting a lot lately:

“Why did you start this?”

To be honest, it wasn’t just about the product (although I absolutely love it and use it daily). It was about building something that’s mine, something I enjoy pouring my energy into.

Since moving to Australia 1.5 years ago, finding stable work hasn’t always been easy. My visa only allows me to work for six months with one employer, and more than once I was suddenly taken off the roster without any explanation, even after getting great feedback. It felt like I was constantly chasing a paycheck, not building something meaningful.

That changed when I discovered the benefits of tallow and became obsessed with the idea of creating my own product. Once you order 200 jars and invest in your first batch, there’s no turning back.

A friend of mine is currently dreaming of launching his own product, thinking through investors and manufacturers. I really believe starting small gives you momentum. You’ll make mistakes (my first big jar label was missing info, I fixed it with two extra stickers), but you learn and move forward. And if the product is good, people won’t mind.

The response so far has been amazing and energising. I’m signing up for more markets (aiming for two a week!) and starting to connect with stores who might want to stock Beauty and the Beef.

The online side is growing too, the online potential there is huge.

It’s been long days, but I’m loving every second of it. Nothing beats the feeling of someone choosing something you made. For the next market, I’m adding a brand new scent: Chamomile & Geranium.

If that goes well, we’ll move on to more products. I’m excited for every step of the journey ahead.

If you’d like to try the product, you can find us at beautyandthebeef.com.au

DOUBLE UPDATE

This past Sunday, we sold our very first products at the Kingsbury Drive Community Market at La Trobe University in Melbourne. It was amazing to receive so much positive feedback, both from people already familiar with tallow cream and from those discovering it for the first time.

And since yesterday, our jars are also available in a shop for the first time—at the butcher where we’ve been sourcing our fat. A special and symbolic collaboration!

We’re proud of these first steps and excited for what’s to come. Thanks to everyone who’s supported us so far! 🐄💜

We have an update!

Because it’s important that we source our fat from a place that we know, we have been looking for a farm that has grass fed and almost organic cattle.

And we have found it, at Wandilla farm in Gippsland. This fat is from Akaushi cattle, which is a Wagyu bree, known for it’s beautiful fat.

We will find out soon which fat provides the smoothest cream. Our guess is the kidney fat.
