⚡️Plenty Physiotherapy x The Ortho Clinic Melbourne⚡️

A fantastic afternoon bringing together Plenty Physiotherapy and The Ortho Clinic Melbourne for a Doctors’ Lunch & Learn. 🩺🤝

It was a great opportunity to connect, share clinical insights and discuss how strong collaboration between physiotherapists and orthopaedic specialists can help deliver more coordinated care for our patients.

We were fortunate to connect with specialists across a broad range of orthopaedic areas, including Hip, Knee, Upper Limb, Foot & Ankle, and Spine. These conversations offered valuable perspectives across the orthopaedic spectrum and reinforced the importance of communication between the clinicians involved in a patient’s care.

At Plenty Physiotherapy, we believe great outcomes are supported by strong multidisciplinary relationships. Working alongside orthopaedic specialists allows us to better understand each patient’s presentation, treatment pathway and goals. From conservative management and rehabilitation, through to post-operative recovery.

A big thank you to The Ortho Clinic Melbourne for hosting us and for creating an environment where clinicians can connect, learn and collaborate. We look forward to continuing to build these relationships and, most importantly, supporting our patients every step of the way. 🙌

🎾 Tennis Elbow… without playing tennis?!🎾

The name might suggest otherwise, but you don’t need to play tennis to develop tennis elbow. 👀
In fact, lateral epicondylalgia (the medical term for tennis elbow) is something we commonly see in office workers, tradies, gym-goers and anyone who regularly performs gripping or lifting tasks.

💪 So, what’s actually happening?
The tendons on the outside of your elbow help control your wrist and grip. When the load placed through these tendons repeatedly exceeds what they’re currently capable of handling, they can become painful.

Think:
🛠️ Using tools
🏋️ Lifting weights
💻 Working at a keyboard
🛍️ Carrying shopping bags
☕ Pouring a kettle
🎾 Playing tennis

It’s not necessarily about one particular activity; it’s often about how much load your tendon is exposed to, how often, and whether it has had enough time to adapt.

📌 Save this post if you’ve ever experienced pain on the outside of your elbow.

💭 MYTH vs FACT: Let’s clear up some common physiotherapy misconceptions! 🧐✨

When it comes to pain 🤕, injuries 🦵, and recovery 🔄, there are many beliefs and assumptions that can influence the way we understand and manage our bodies.

💬 Some ideas have been passed down over time, but they don’t always reflect what we now know about how the body heals 🩹, adapts 🔄, and becomes stronger 💪.

❗Common misconceptions like “pain always means damage”, “rest is always the answer”, or “physio is just massage” can affect the way we approach recovery and returning to the activities we love.

Today, we’re separating physio myths 🚫 from the facts ✅ and breaking down some of the most common misconceptions about pain, movement, and rehabilitation 👇

🧠 Understanding your body is the first step towards making better decisions about your health, recovery, and long-term wellbeing 🌱.

Physiotherapy is about more than just treating injuries 🏃‍♂️ it’s about helping you move better, build strength 💪, prevent future problems 🛡️, and feel confident in your body.

⚡️ Dealing with stubborn tendon pain that just doesn’t seem to go away? 👀

Shockwave Therapy uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate a controlled healing response in the affected tissue. It helps via:

🩹 Stimulating tissue repair
🩸 Increasing local blood flow
💪 Promoting collagen production
🔄 Improving tendon remodelling
🧠 Helping reduce pain sensitivity
🦴 Addressing certain calcium deposits and abnormal tissue changes

But here’s the important part 👇

Shockwave Therapy isn’t a magic fix as it works best as part of a bigger rehabilitation plan. 🏋️‍♀️

At Plenty Physiotherapy, we combine Shockwave Therapy with personalised exercises and progressive rehabilitation to help restore strength, function and confidence.

If you’ve been dealing with persistent tendon pain, Shockwave Therapy may be an option worth exploring.
