SERIOUS QUESTION - WHEN DID YOU STOP FEELING LIKE YOU?
🤍
If you're somewhere between 50 and 60, there's a good chance you've spent decades being needed. Raising children. Working. Running a home. Supporting a partner. Caring for ageing parents. Keeping track of appointments, birthdays, bills, shopping, family dramas and where everybody apparently left the thing that's sitting directly in front of them. 😂
For years, you've just got on with it, but carrying that much responsibility for that long can take its toll.
Somewhere around this stage of life, you might start noticing things feel different.
Maybe you're experiencing brain fog or forgetfulness; difficulty concentrating; restless or interrupted sleep; feeling exhausted, yet struggling to properly switch off. You might have tension through your neck, shoulders or jaw. You might be feeling more easily overwhelmed; less patient; changes in your energy. Feeling emotionally flat or disconnected or simply a sense that you're not quite you anymore.
There can be many reasons we experience these things in our 50s, including the physical and hormonal changes that come with this stage of life, but ongoing stress and years of putting yourself last certainly don't make navigating it any easier.
Then there's another part of midlife we don't talk about nearly enough - what happens when everybody stops needing you quite so much? You find yourself wondering: What do I actually do with myself now? Because when you've spent 20 or 30 years being Mum, partner, worker, carer, organiser, taxi driver, cook, problem solver and keeper of everybody else's universe,it can be surprisingly difficult to remember who you are outside those roles.
Maybe dreams were put aside, interests disappeared, friendships became harder to maintain, your needs kept moving further down the list. Not because you deliberately sacrificed yourself, life simply became busy, and somewhere along the way looking after everybody else became normal.
So when someone finally tells you:
"You should do something for yourself"
You might genuinely think: What do I even like anymore?
And THAT is the woman I want to speak to.
This next chapter doesn't require another reinvention but a space where you can feel again.
To slow down.
To breathe.
To notice what your body is telling you.
To discover what feels nourishing now, rather than what worked twenty years ago.
To rest without feeling guilty.
To become curious about what you want.
And perhaps even rediscover parts of yourself that have been quietly waiting in the background.
This is the heart of what I'm creating through Simple Soul Energetics.
Using gentle breathwork, meditation, energy work and heart centred self discovery, I'm creating spaces for women to step away from the noise for a while.
No pressure to perform.
No requirement to tell your life story.
No deliberately digging around in painful experiences.
Just an opportunity to breathe, settle, reconnect and listen inward again.
Because your 50s don't have to be about becoming invisible.
Maybe they're about becoming visible to yourself again.
You've spent decades loving, working, raising, supporting, learning, losing, growing and getting back up.
There's a whole woman underneath those responsibilities.
And now it's her turn. 🤍
A Gentle Return to You
Not becoming someone new.
Coming home to the woman who's been there all along.
