Did you know that today is World Day for Assistive Technology?

It’s all about recognising the important role assistive technology plays in supporting independence, participation and everyday life.

Assistive technology is anything that can help people live more safely, confidently and comfortably. It can include:

• Communication devices and apps
• Mobility aids and equipment
• Sensory supports and more

Our Members tell us that the right technology makes a huge difference: helping people connect with others, access their community, build skills, work toward goals and increase choice and control in daily life.

This World Day for Assistive Technology, we celebrate the innovation, access and opportunities that assistive technology can create for people with disability.

We loved being part of Ready-Set-Connect Blacktown last week!

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at Margaret and Belinda setting up before a morning of meaningful conversations, connection and community.

Opportunities like this mean a lot to us, and we always value the chance to listen and talk about the supports that matter most.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello.

This June, we celebrate Pride Month, a time to recognise and honour the LGBTQIA+ community, diversity, inclusion and the importance of being able to live authentically.

At Living My Way, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported for who they are.

We also acknowledge that people with disability who identify as LGBTQIA+ can face additional barriers to connection, understanding and inclusive support.

Pride Month is an important reminder that everyone deserves to belong, not just this month, but every day. We stand alongside the LGBTQIA+ community in celebrating individuality, visibility and inclusion.

Just a quick note in case you’re planning to make a submission in response to the NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026.

29th May is shown as the closing date at the top of the submissions webpage, but further down the page there’s a notice saying submissions have been extended until 1 June 2026.

We know that kind of date mismatch can be easy to miss, so we’re sharing it here to help avoid any confusion.

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation.

This year’s theme, All In, is a call for all of us to commit to reconciliation every day. It reminds us that we all have a role to play in creating meaningful change.

At Living My Way, we’re committed to listening, learning and continuing to build a community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are respected, valued and supported.

Creating inclusive communities takes all of us.

The Resourcing Inclusive Communities program is hosting a series of free online sessions and workshops until the end of June, designed to support people with disability, their families and communities to build stronger connections and greater inclusion.

Topics include:

• Peer networks
• Getting your supports on the right track
• Youth employment support
• Supported individualised living… and more

These sessions are a great opportunity to explore practical ideas, build confidence, and connect with others who are passionate about inclusive communities where everyone belongs.

There’s been a lot of concern recently around upcoming NDIS registration changes, especially for people who employ their own Support Workers or manage their own supports.

But recent clarification shared in a video by The Growing Space may bring some reassurance for many participants and families.

Our latest blog includes the video’s transcript and breaks down:
âś” What the changes could mean
âś” Who may be affected
âś” Why people employing their own Support Workers can likely breathe a sigh of relief

It’s Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)!

What makes something accessible? It’s different for everyone.

For some people, it might be:

✅ Information that’s easy to understand
âś… Flexible appointment options
âś… Time to process decisions
âś… Support to navigate systems
âś… Environments that feel safe and inclusive

Accessibility isn’t one thing. It’s about removing barriers so people can participate fully in the community.
