Heart disease doesn’t just happen to “older” people.

It doesn’t just happen to “unhealthy” people.

And too often, people don’t know they’re at risk until it’s too late.

That’s why community champions like Bron matter 🤩🫶

This weekend, Bron volunteered her time at Mildura Weir parkrun to help spread the word about the Heart Health Check Community Project and encourage locals to take part in this important research.

Because changing heart health outcomes in our region starts with conversations. With awareness. With action.

Thank you Bron 🙏 This is what community leadership looks like.

What a day at the Mildura Field Days! 🚜❤️

From chats at the MRIC marquee to local organisations helping hand out flyers and spread the word, this is what community looks like, people coming together to help improve heart health in rural communities.

Every conversation matters. Every flyer shared matters. Every person who takes part in the research project helps shape a better future for how heart health checks are delivered across regional Australia.
So many people reached out to help us “touch somebody” today and that’s exactly how change starts.

Join the research project and help make a difference.

A huge thank you to the cardiology team at Mildura Base Public Hospital for inviting the Heart Health Check Community Project to be part of their Heart Foundation 2026 Heart Week activities. ❤️

From meeting staff and community members to joining Saturday’s Imperial Football & Netball Club vs Irymple Football Netball Club - Heart round at Sarah Oval, it was fantastic to see so many people having conversations about heart health and the importance of early detection.

Our project is exploring new ways to deliver heart health checks in rural communities because earlier detection means better outcomes.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in Australia and in our region. That’s why these conversations matter.

Interested in helping shape the future of rural heart health checks? Join us by signing up to take part in the project today👇

It’s Heart Week and it’s all about starting conversations about heart health with the people we love.

We would love it if you could chat with your family and friends and invite them to consider joining our community research project, which is exploring new and easier ways for people in rural communities like ours to access heart health checks.

By taking part, participants not only receive a heart health check (either at home, in a community pharmacy, or at a local health care centre), they are contributing to evidence that may help inform how heart health checks could be delivered in the future, to make it easier for rural Australians to access and be supported in their heart health journey.

Heart disease remains Australia’s biggest killer. Research like this helps inform how care can be accessed and improved, especially for communities outside our major cities like ours.

Heart Week is the perfect time to talk, share, and, if appropriate, invite someone you care about to learn more about The Heart Health Check Community Project.
