Comment ‘BLOODS’ for the list of tests you must get done before trying to conceive in your 30s.

A beautiful client I have recently asked me about particular nutrients and supplements that she had seen in her fertility groups and ChatGPT had recommended for egg retrieval, whilst I love these tools and I love women wanting to optimise their health. Sometimes the ‘hacks’ the ‘fertility nutrients’ are NOT the highest priority for YOUR health and optimisation of fertility right now.

If I prescribed every nutrient that ‘they’ say is good for fertility you would be taking more then 10 supps and it completely goes against my values of foundations first and individualised support. You are unique and you deserve unique support.

Sure layer on the supps for fertility when needed but at the cost of addressing YOUR nutrient deficiencies or nutrition inadequacies, it’s not worth it.

What ever reason you have for not being able to conceive when you wanted too, we all handle how we have to wait it out a little differently.

Whilst I’m definitely not in the same position as many women who have been waiting for years, it’s still important to recognise the challenges of our own journey.

I’ve had my wallow, and I needed it, but I truly am grateful for what I have had to discover as part of this journey, because it’s forced me to look in places I wasn’t going to look without it.

Maybe that’s the purpose of your journey. Maybe there are places in yourself you haven’t yet discovered, maybe there are parts of you yet to unfold.

I’ve had to find a way to find joy and get honest with what hasn’t been working. Timelines are funny, this illusion we have that our perfect plans will of course be right on our time. Sometimes there are plans so much better we can’t quite see yet.

I’d love to know yours! 👇

Getting a low AMH result can feel like the door is closing. It’s not.

Comment AMH and I’ll send you more on what to focus on when your levels are low.

AMH measures your ovarian reserve, the pool of resting eggs available to develop and be released each cycle. It tells us nothing about the quality of those eggs. And quality is what actually gets you pregnant.

So instead of spiralling over a number, here’s where your energy goes.

Ubiquinol
As you age, your CoQ10 levels naturally decline. This limits the cellular energy available inside your eggs and affects how well chromosomes divide during fertilisation. Supplementing helps protect eggs from oxidative damage and supports the metabolic function your eggs need to develop well. It’s the most evidence-backed supplement we have for egg quality.

Sleep and movement
The research on natural conception is consistent, basic lifestyle factors move the needle more than most supplements. Seven to eight hours of sleep supports hormonal regulation and cellular repair. Regular physical activity improves circulation, reduces inflammation, and supports a healthy hormonal environment. These aren’t optional extras. They’re foundational.

Cut the alcohol
There is no threshold that’s been shown to be safe when you’re trying to conceive. Alcohol increases oxidative stress, which directly impacts egg quality. This one is non-negotiable.

Omega-3s (EPA and DHA)
Consistently linked to reduced inflammation and better reproductive outcomes. Omega-3s help create a more favourable environment for egg development and embryo implantation. If your diet isn’t rich in oily fish, supplementing is worth considering.

A low AMH is information. It is not a verdict on your fertility or your future.

I’m a women in my 30s, I am also a women’s health Naturopath, supporting women in their 30s to get healthy for pregnancy, and these are the things they don’t tell you about getting pregnant in your 30s…

They don’t tell you about the self imposed pressure a woman holds and usually on her own.

They don’t tell you that it is 50% your mans responsibility and should be holding some of that pressure with you.

They don’t tell you your AMH is NOT the only marker of fertility.

They don’t tell you that just because you have a ‘normal’ cycle doesn’t mean you are actually ovulating, or even what to look out for in your cycle to know it is ‘normal’.

If you need to get your man on board, comment ‘SPERM’ and I’ll send you the Non negotiable’s for mens preconception health.

Heres the thing, I know that wanting to support preconception care months in advance might feel like its adding to that overwhelm, but the purpose is the exact opposite, its so that when you are ready to conceive you have already done what you need to ensure a healthy conception, pregnancy and postpartum, because preconception care is not just about not wanting to have trouble conceiving.

If you are experiencing, heavy periods, painful periods, clots, spotting in between cycles, Pre menstrual symptoms, sore breasts, constipation, thrush, UTIs, a short luteal phase - these are all signs that your cycle needs support.

Your fertility specialist may use AMH as a marker of your ability to conceive but it is NOT everything, it does not take into consderation the quality of your follicles, which can be impacted.

If you want to prepare for conception, comment BABY and we can have a chat about if this support is right for you.

Endometriosis is finally getting more research and air time, and it’s so great to see as a women’s health naturopath. But being a part of endo support groups and women’s health groups I still see so much information that is really doing such a great disservice to women with this condition.

This is a complex condition with multiple causes and contributions. But this does not mean hopeless, it means that if you truly want to find relief and support you will need an individualised approach by a practitioner that takes into consideration all areas of YOUR health. AND for the appropriate time it takes to support a complex, multi factorial condition. Why? Because eating a ‘healthy’ diet is not enough. All the pictured systems (and more) need to be taken into consideration to YOUR case, because you are an individual and will have drivers that are individual to you. So when reaching out to a support group to tell you if a hysterectomy is the only option, please know there are people who specialise in this space to teach you how and what to do for YOU to find the right support and relief. Maybe that is a hysterectomy but I truly hope it’s not the first and only option for you.

Yes I’m extremely passionate about this as a women’s health naturopath.
