“What’s the best potato for.....?” Is a question we get asked everyday! And fair enough, even though they look somewhat similar, they each have their own personality.
Dutch Creams are a perfect all-rounder, super smooth and buttery texture. We love them roasted, but you can also use them for mash, boiling or gratins.
Sebago potatoes are great when you want that nice crispy outside and fluffy inside combo. Think roast potatoes, potato chips/wedges and mash.
Kipfler are low in starch, so they hold their shape and have a firm waxy texture inside when roasting. They are usually slightly more expensive but so worth it. We love them roasted whole or boiled and served with butter & herbs.
Desiree are another great all-rounder with red skin and creamy flesh that holds well together. We usually use them for gnocchi or potato salad, or roast them for a different flavour.
Midnight pearl has a niche following, they are purple inside, so they are richer in antioxidants and add a bit of colour to your plate when you want to make your dinner a little more spesh. They have a slight earthy and nutty flavour.
We offer others throughout the year too like Nicola, King Edward, Red Pontiac, Neptune, Prince of Orange, Salad Rose, Queen Anne, Fidelia, Red Lady and more.
So dabble in different ones to find your favourite.
