Sometimes parenting a neurodivergent child can feel like standing under a sky full of uncertainty.
So many changing clouds. So many unknowns. So many moments where we wonder what the future will look like.

But when we slow down, breathe, and really look… there is also beauty.

Beauty in the small moments of connection.
Beauty in seeing the world differently.
Beauty in children who teach us to notice things others miss.

At My Therapy House, we believe growth does not always happen in a straight line. Sometimes it looks like tiny steps, pauses, storms, and unexpected light breaking through the clouds.

And sometimes, the most beautiful journeys are the ones we never planned for.

What happens when you realise your child may not live with you forever?

In this episode of The Empowered Parent Podcast, Graham shares the deeply personal journey of supporting Bradley into adulthood and creating a home where he can feel safe, understood, and supported to grow with dignity and choice.

We talk about anxiety, OCD, tics, and how behaviour is often communication. We also explore the power of curiosity, understanding patterns rather than fighting them, and the role the right supports can play in helping families move out of survival mode.

This conversation also goes into the real life side of supported living and the NDIS. The decisions, the staffing, the routines, the emotional load, and the unexpected moments where adulthood begins to emerge.

A thoughtful and honest episode for parents thinking about future living options, independence, and what support can truly look like.

Buying a home for your child sounds like a practical decision until you realise it also forces a whole new identity for everyone involved. We sit down with Graham to unpack how his family moved from assuming Bradley would live with them forever to...

At My Therapy House we take great pride in our therapy resources and environments.

Every child is different, so our resources are thoughtfully organised and selected to support individual therapeutic goals, developmental stages, sensory needs, and interests.

A huge part of this is thanks to Charlotte, our Therapy Assistant, who spends countless hours organising resources, setting up spaces, rotating materials, and making everything accessible for therapists and children.

It might look like shelves and toys to others…
but to us, these resources help create opportunities for connection, communication, regulation, play, confidence, and growth.

As an experienced early childhood teacher working within a DIRFloortime® framework, Kerry understands the power of play-based learning and meeting children where they are.

In this video, Kerry shares how learning from Michele Ricamato has reinforced a relational, play-based approach to communication and development. Rather than focusing on behaviours alone, it’s about understanding each child’s readiness, following their lead through play, supporting meaningful connections with others, and knowing when to extend learning and when to simply stay alongside them.

🎥 Hear Kerry's reflections on seeing communication through a different lens.

Interested in learning how to integrate this approach into your own practice? Visit our website to learn more about Michele Ricamato's upcoming Adelaide workshop.
