Traditional assessments can tell us a lot. But do they always capture the full picture of how a neurodivergent child understands and communicates?

Standardised assessments are designed to compare a child’s skills against typical developmental expectations. But for children with different communication and language profiles, that may not always reflect the way they naturally acquire and use language.

In this video, Michele Ricamato explores why looking more deeply at a child’s foundational capacities and individual strengths can help us better understand their communication profile.

This November in Adelaide, Michele will take attendees through the DALI, a non-standardised assessment that approaches communication and language differently, with a focus on understanding the strengths each child brings.

Last week, we farewelled our wonderful OT student Sofia 👋🏻 👩🏻‍🎓

Sofia completed her final university placement with us and it won’t be long before she is a fully qualified Occupational Therapist! We wish her all the best as she begins her career, and will miss her kind, fun and helpful nature around the clinic ❤️

Thank you to our families who welcomed Sofia into their children’s sessions, and to our amazing OTs who did a fabulous job as her supervisors.
