After a few weeks away from training... what option would you choose? 🤔

A) Load the bar with what you were lifting before.

B) Skip training because starting again feels hard.

C) Adjust the exercise to match where your body is today.

The answer… C ✅

In this session, Chris takes Morgan through a back squat using a box and tempo to rebuild movement quality before chasing heavier loads.

Why?

🏋🏼‍♀️ Tempo slows the movement down, improving control, positioning and time under tension

🏋🏼‍♀️ Box height provides a consistent depth target while building confidence and reinforcing good squat mechanics

The goal isn’t to “start over.”

The goal is to move well today so you can keep progressing tomorrow.

A new name that better reflects what we do and an approach that has always been at the heart of SEPSA.

We believe exercise physiology is more than treating an injury or handing someone a generic exercise program.

For us, it starts with understanding the person in front of us: where they are now, what matters to them and where they want to go.

From there, we combine clinical expertise, exercise science and performance-focused coaching to build a personalised plan that progresses with them.

That might mean returning from injury, managing a health condition, building strength and confidence, or preparing to perform at the highest level.

Different people. Different goals. The same SEPSA approach.

Same SEPSA. A name that better reflects what we do.

SEPSA is now Sports & Exercise Physiology Solutions Australia.

As SEPSA has grown, so has the range and the way we’re able to work with people.

We’re excited that our new name better reflects that.

From athletes looking to perform at their best, to people returning from injury, managing a health condition, building strength, or simply wanting to move and feel better. Exercise physiology sits at the heart of what we do.

The SEPSA name stays.
Our team stays.
Our approach stays.

What changes is a name that better represents where we’re heading and the people we’re here to help.
Our new name better reflects that.

We can’t wait to share some of the things we’ve been working on with our amazing community.

Move better. Live healthier. Perform stronger.

Textbooks teach us about the human body, injuries and health conditions, but no case study perfectly reflects the person sitting in front of you.

Real people have complex medical histories, busy lives, different goals, previous experiences and barriers that don’t fit neatly into a textbook.

That’s where clinical reasoning develops: asking better questions, observing how someone moves and adapting your approach to the person, not simply their diagnosis.

What actually is an Exercise Physiologist?

Exercise Physiology is still a relatively young profession, so it’s understandable that many people aren’t quite sure what we do.

Our real strength is understanding injury, illness and how the body moves.

We assess your movement, identify your strengths and limitations, and explore the factors that may be holding you back. We then use that information to create a genuinely individualised exercise program, not simply a list of exercises.

The goal is to build a program around your body, your goals and, most importantly, your actual life.

Clinical reasoning. Practical exercise. A clear path forward.

ChatGPT referred a client to us….but he still didn’t know what an exercise physiologist actually did.

After dealing with chronic lower-back pain and recurring flare-ups, he had tried several treatment approaches. Some had helped at the time, but he was still looking for a longer term solution.

So, he entered his history into ChatGPT.

Its recommendation? See an exercise physiologist.
