Meet Will. πŸ‘‹

Will is one of our physiotherapists here at Mittagong Physio - and if you've ever come in with dizziness, vertigo or balance problems, there's a good chance he's the one who sorted it out.

Will has a special interest in vestibular conditions including BPPV, dizziness and balance disorders, concussion management and TMJ (jaw) pain - areas that not every physio specialises in. He's completed additional training in all of these, as well as dry needling and strength and conditioning (ASCA Level 1 accredited).

Outside the clinic, Will is pretty much always moving - cricket, AFL, footy, the gym, or somewhere outdoors cheering on the Sydney Swans. That love of sport is exactly what drew him to physio in the first place.

His approach? Get to the root of the problem, empower his patients with knowledge, and make sure they leave better equipped than when they arrived.

One of the most common things we hear is:

β€œI rested it, but it still hurts when I go back to normal activity.”

Rest can help calm things down early on, but shoulder pain is often related to how the joint and surrounding muscles handle load.

If strength, control and movement patterns aren’t addressed, symptoms can return when you start using it again.

Rehab focuses on gradually rebuilding capacity so the shoulder can tolerate everyday tasks, work and sport without recurring flare-ups.

If your shoulder pain keeps coming back, it may be time for a more structured approach.

Your pain is not your diagnosis.

Being told you have a "bulging disc," "bone on bone," or "degeneration" can feel like your body is broken beyond repair. It's not.

Most of what shows up on scans is incredibly common - and far less meaningful than it sounds. Research consistently shows that MRI findings rarely predict pain levels. Two people with identical scans can have completely different experiences.

The label is not the limit.

What actually matters is how your tissue is loaded, how you move, and having the right guidance to rebuild from where you are - not from where a scan says you should be.

They don't have to.

Dizziness and balance problems are one of the most under-treated conditions we see - because most people assume there's nothing that can be done. But in many cases, physio can help significantly.

We're trained to assess and treat vestibular conditions including BPPV (that sudden spinning feeling when you roll over in bed or look up), post-concussion dizziness, balance disorders, and dizziness coming from the neck.

BPPV in particular can often be resolved in just one or two appointments.
