A Tuesday at F**t Physio 🩷

Patients, PD, mentoring, meetings and yes, cake absolutely counts as lunch when it’s Anne’s birthday 🎂

Tuesday’s are my favourite, a mix between the clinical side and the team side.

Happy Birthday Anne, we’re lucky to have you 🌸

Pushing in labour is a skill, and transperineal ultrasound lets us see in real time whether the pelvic floor is relaxing and opening the way it needs to, or whether it’s working against you.

Our team spent today upskilling with this technology so we can bring it into birth prep appointments. Because knowing what to do is one thing, but seeing it on screen is another 🩷

If you’re pregnant and want to work on your pushing technique before birth, this is exactly what we can help with. Link in bio to book with us 🌸

One of the things we assess during a birth prep physio appointment is perineal body length. A shortened perineal body is a risk factor for OASI (3rd/4th degree tears) that often doesn’t get discussed in standard antenatal care. 💛

If you’re pregnant and want a thorough pelvic floor and birth prep assessment, we’re in Mount Waverley — link in bio to book 🌸

Save this and share with a pregnant mama who needs to hear it.

My favourite hack to treating a tight pelvic floor at home 💛

If you have coccyx or tailbone pain that is persisting, consult with a pelvic floor Physio 🫶🏻🫶🏻

“Just do more kegels.” 🙄 If I had a dollar for every time a patient told me this was the only advice they’d been given, I’d have a very large coffee fund.

Kegels are not the answer for everyone. For some women they make things significantly worse. Swipe to find out why and what to do instead. 💛

Save this and share it with someone who has been told the same thing. 👇

7 months postpartum, working a lot and completely overwhelmed with pumping. 🍼
I shared it on my stories and this community showed up with the most incredible tips and encouragement.
Swipe for everything I learned. Save it. Share it. You’re not alone in this. 💛

5am starts, a baby on the b**b, emails before breakfast and somehow making it to work with my shirt on the right way 😆 7 months postpartum and this is what a Tuesday morning looks like 💛

Last night I stood in front of a room of Doctor of Physiotherapy students at the University of Melbourne and talked about pelvic health. 🌸

My first face to face presentation since having my kids and honestly, a little out of my comfort zone.

But here’s the thing about pelvic health, it doesn’t get talked about enough. Not in lecture theatres. Not in clinical placements. Not in everyday conversation. And if the next generation of physiotherapists leaves university without understanding the impact of pelvic floor dysfunction on women’s lives, we all lose.

So I showed up. Slightly nervous, deeply passionate and ready to start the conversation.

The room was engaged. The questions were thoughtful. And the gratitude from those students reminded me exactly why this work matters so much.

Every physio will encounter patients with pelvic health needs, whether they specialise in it or not. The more we normalise the conversation, the better the outcomes for every woman who walks through a clinic door.

To the students in that room last night, thank you for your curiosity, your openness and your time. You are going to do incredible things. 💛

Six years ago I started as a sole trader. No team, no clinic, just me, a phone, and a deep need to talk about women’s pelvic health with anyone who would listen 🥰

Then COVID hit. Access to pelvic health care changed and I poured everything into this page. Education, awareness, real conversations about things nobody was talking about. It became something during that time. And honestly, so did I.

What started as just me has grown into a clinic with a team of 9, courses, workshops (👀), ebooks and a community of women I feel genuinely honoured to be trusted by.

But through all of it, this page has always been personal. My experiences. My two caesareans. My motherhood. My business. It’s never been about the clinic handle. It’s always been about me showing up.
So I’m making the handle match the reality.
From to .physio 🤍
Same content. Same me. A name that finally fits.

If you’ve been here since 2019, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you just found me, welcome.

I hope you stick around as you don’t want to miss what’s coming next! Rach x
