Feeding my baby on his big sister’s bed. One day before he turns one.

This is our life right now. Right in the middle of everything.

This year I’ve been a mum of two.
Running a business. Leading a team. Supporting my patients.
Trying to be a good friend and a good wife.

I haven’t got the balance right.
Some weeks I’ve felt like I was dropping every ball.

If I’m honest, I haven’t found my feet yet.
I’m still finding my way back to me.

But Ollie, we’ve made it through this first year together.
And together, we’ll get there! 💙

Thank you to the people who have stuck by me through all of it. It means more than you know.

If you’re in the juggle right now and still finding your feet too, I see you. You’re not the only one.

Pushing in labour is a skill, and transperineal ultrasound lets us see in real time whether the pelvic floor is relaxing and opening the way it needs to, or whether it’s working against you.

Our team spent today upskilling with this technology so we can bring it into birth prep appointments. Because knowing what to do is one thing, but seeing it on screen is another 🩷

One of the things we assess during a birth prep physio appointment is perineal body length. A shortened perineal body is a risk factor for OASI (3rd/4th degree tears) that often doesn’t get discussed in standard antenatal care. 💛

Last night I stood in front of a room of Doctor of Physiotherapy students at the University of Melbourne and talked about pelvic health. 🌸

My first face to face presentation since having my kids and honestly, a little out of my comfort zone.

But here’s the thing about pelvic health, it doesn’t get talked about enough. Not in lecture theatres. Not in clinical placements. Not in everyday conversation. And if the next generation of physiotherapists leaves university without understanding the impact of pelvic floor dysfunction on women’s lives, we all lose.

So I showed up. Slightly nervous, deeply passionate and ready to start the conversation.

The room was engaged. The questions were thoughtful. And the gratitude from those students reminded me exactly why this work matters so much.

Every physio will encounter patients with pelvic health needs, whether they specialise in it or not. The more we normalise the conversation, the better the outcomes for every woman who walks through a clinic door.

To the students in that room last night, thank you for your curiosity, your openness and your time. You are going to do incredible things. 💛
