☕️ BEHIND THE SENSES — BAROSSA VALLEY
Somewhere between the road to Western Australia and the next chapter of the journey…
there was an early-morning coffee, a quiet road and rows upon rows of grapevines.
The Barossa Valley.
You could easily look at those vines and just see grapes.
But when you're preparing for a five-day Language of Flowers LIVE event, you start looking at landscapes a little differently.
You notice repetition.
Growth.
Season.
Colour.
Shape.
What thrives where it is planted.
And then you start wondering…
What does a place communicate before anyone says a word?
That's the part of this journey I'm collecting.
Not everything needs to be explained straight away.
Some things are better noticed first.

“Why do certain patterns keep appearing in my life?”
A client asked me this recently.
And instead of asking, “Why does this keep happening to me?”
I’d ask:
“What if the pattern isn't the problem?”
What if it’s showing you something you haven't been willing to notice yet?
What if you stopped making the pattern mean something is wrong with you?
What if you became curious instead?
Sometimes we spend so much energy trying to fix ourselves that we don't stop to ask a much more interesting question:
“What am I actually aware of here?”
In a reading, I’m not there to tell you who you are, what your future will be, or what choice you have to make.
I’m interested in what happens when we slow down enough to notice.
Your face.
Your palm.
The flowers you're drawn towards.
The symbols you notice.
The stories you tell.
Even the things you keep saying are “just a coincidence.”
And then we ask better questions.
Because perhaps the change doesn't begin with finding the right answer.
Perhaps it begins with asking a question you've never asked before.
So… what pattern keeps showing up in your life that you're ready to get curious about? 👀

A simple 8–12 second video sequence
1. Start wide — 2 seconds
Show the entire palm image.
Text on screen: “What’s hiding in the crease at the base of your thumb? 👀”
2. Slowly zoom toward the thumb — 3 seconds
Have the image gently zoom in and move toward the Mount of Venus, where the thumb joins the palm.
Text: “Look closely…”
3. Highlight the crease — 2–3 seconds
Once you're close enough, add a subtle circle, glow, or hand-drawn outline around the triangle/three-way crease.
Text: “Can you see the little triangle?”
4. Hold the shot — 2 seconds
Don't rush away. Let people actually inspect it.
Text: “Lucky triangle… or something else?” 👀
5. End with your branding — 2 seconds

The important trick
Don't animate the palm itself too much. Animate the camera movement.
Think:
PALM → THUMB → CREASE → TRIANGLE → QUESTION
That creates a little visual mystery and encourages people to look at their own hand.
If you're using CapCut
You can do this with your existing palm image:
Add the palm image to a new project.
Set the duration to around 10 seconds.
Put a keyframe at the beginning while the whole palm is visible.
Move the timeline forward about 3 seconds.
Add another keyframe and zoom in, positioning the thumb/crease in the centre.
Add another keyframe around 6–7 seconds and zoom slightly closer.
Add a circle/arrow/glow over the triangle.
Add your text progressively rather than putting the entire caption on screen.
Add a subtle sound effect when the triangle is revealed.
Finish with your Whoop Whoop Walkabout branding.
The best part is that people don't have to know anything about palmistry. The video itself gives them a reason to grab their hand and check.
For your particular post, I'd make the opening much more visual than the written caption. The caption does the explaining; the video should create the “Wait… where is it? Let me look at my hand” reaction.

A little unexpected stop on the road to Western Australia… 🌿🚐
We’re still on the road, heading towards Western Australia for our 5-day event from 26 September — but sometimes the best parts of a road trip are the places you never planned to linger.
Today it was Mount Gambier and the beautiful Umpherston Sinkhole/Balumbul — the Sunken Garden.
I was wandering through the garden when a few people noticed my sign and stopped to ask:
“What exactly is a floral reading?”
One question turned into a conversation…
and then came that lovely moment when they realised they could actually experience one. 🌸
So, naturally, we found ourselves sitting amongst the garden, talking about flowers, symbolism, stories and the way we sometimes notice something in nature that makes us stop and look twice.
There was something particularly beautiful about doing a floral reading here.
A garden growing down inside an ancient limestone formation…
layers of history beneath our feet…
lush plants climbing the walls…
and people simply taking a moment to connect with the place around them.
For me, that is what Keep A Lid On It is about.
Not telling you exactly what to see.
Helping you notice what you might otherwise walk straight past.
And perhaps that's why I love floral readings so much.
The flower isn't simply a flower.
It's the starting point for a conversation.
A little curiosity.
A little symbolism.
A little story.
And always…

🌸🦋 TODAY'S FLORAL READING
I found a pink echinacea with an orange-and-black butterfly sitting right in the middle of it.
And this one stopped me.
Because look closely.
The flower is soft around the outside…
but its centre is anything but soft.
That raised, bristling cone is part of what gives echinacea its character — even its name comes from the Greek word associated with a hedgehog or sea urchin. Echinacea has also carried long-standing associations with strength, healing and protection through its history of traditional use.
Then there's the colour.
Pink. Orange. Black.
Softness. Vitality. Mystery.
And right in the middle of all of that…
a butterfly has chosen to land.
So if I were reading this scene for someone, I wouldn't tell them:
“You're going through change.”
I'd tell them:
You may have become very good at protecting yourself.
But perhaps the question isn't whether your boundaries are working.
Perhaps it's:
Have you left enough room for something good to land?
Because this flower didn't have to remove its prickles to become a resting place.
And the butterfly didn't have to stay forever to make its visit matter.
There's something here about being protected without becoming closed.
About knowing what belongs inside your space…
what is simply passing through…
and what deserves to land.

👁️ FACE IT — THE GREEN EYE
There’s something about this eye that makes me stop.
In Chinese face reading, the eyes are known as the Inspector Officer — the part of the face traditionally associated with observation, awareness and the spirit behind the person.
And this isn't an eye I'd read as simply “pretty.”
I would look at the clarity, openness, shape and the way the eye holds your attention.
There is an observant quality here.
You may notice more than you let people know.
You can sit quietly in a room and pick up on the atmosphere before anyone has actually said much.
And here's the interesting part…
People may think you're easier to read than you actually are.
Your eyes can give people a doorway in — but that doesn't mean you've given them the whole story.
There is also a tendency to watch first and decide second.
You don't necessarily need to be the loudest person in the room.
You may be the person quietly noticing:
Who's genuine?
Who's performing?
What's actually being said?
And what isn't being said?
That's where this eye becomes interesting.
But remember — in traditional face reading, one feature isn't the whole face. The eyes are read together with the brows, nose, cheeks, mouth and overall facial structure. �
So…

When the Reader Becomes the Read
Sometimes I have to get out of the room.
Away from the noise.
Away from everyone else's questions.
And somewhere I can sit quietly enough to hear my own.
This is where I come to self-reflect.
Because I don't just read flowers.
I read the little things we walk past every day.
A line in a face.
A flower that catches your attention for no obvious reason.
The way a ley line might be noticed through the hands.
The moment your lips touch the rim of a coffee cup and suddenly you notice the pattern left behind.
And then there is Country.
The ancients don't always arrive with an answer.
Sometimes they arrive as a question.
So when I'm sitting somewhere like this, I might ask:
What is this landscape showing me that I haven't been willing to notice?
If I stopped trying to understand everything, what would I actually feel?
What keeps catching my eye — and why?
What am I seeing because I'm looking for it?
What am I not seeing because I've already decided what it means?
If nature didn't need to explain itself to me, could I simply sit with it?
And perhaps the biggest one...
What changes when I stop looking for the answer and become curious about the question?
That's where my readings begin.
Not necessarily with certainty.
With noticing.
With curiosity.
With a willingness to let the little things speak before I decide what they mean.
Maybe that's what self-reflection really is.
Not finding another answer.
Asking a better question.
