THE STRETCH that won't fix it.

This is the search most people make before they ever think about booking a chiropractor:

stretching lower back but pain keeps coming back

The sore spot matters. But the pattern matters more.

If you keep stretching the sore spot, but the same low-back or leg pattern keeps coming back, the useful question is not just "how do I make it stop for an hour?"

It is:
What is loading it?
What keeps feeding it?
What movements change it?
What needs assessment before you keep pushing through?

The pain may be driven by load, hip position, nerve sensitivity, or a movement pattern rather than a short muscle.

For mechanical neck, back, low-back, mid-back, headache, posture, or sciatica patterns, chiropractic care may be part of an active care plan alongside movement, exercise, and self-management. The first step is working out what is driving the pain.

If you have new leg weakness, numbness that is worsening, loss of bladder or bowel control, or severe symptoms that are escalating, seek urgent medical care.

3 GREAT MORNING EXERCISES

Your body has been still for several hours, so a few gentle stretches can be a great way to get moving in the morning.
1. Standing Side Stretch
Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart. Reach one arm overhead and gently lean to the opposite side. Hold for 15–20 seconds, then switch sides. This helps loosen the muscles around your spine and ribs.
2. Standing Hamstring Stretch
Place one heel slightly forward with your toes pointing up. Keep your back straight and gently hinge forward from your hips until you feel a stretch behind your thigh. Hold for 15–20 seconds each side.
3. Gentle Standing Back Extension
Place your hands on your hips. Slowly lift your chest and gently lean backwards, keeping the movement comfortable. Hold for 5–10 seconds and repeat 3–5 times.

Morning tip: Don't force any stretch. Move slowly and breathe normally. If a movement causes sharp, worsening or unusual pain, stop and seek professional advice.
A few minutes of gentle movement each morning can help get your spine, hips and muscles moving after a night of rest.

YOUR POSTURE is protecting something.

This is the search most people make before they ever think about booking a chiropractor:

why can't I keep good posture

The sore spot matters. But the pattern matters more.

If you keep being told to sit up straight, but the body keeps drifting back into the same guarded shape, the useful question is not just "how do I make it stop for an hour?"

It is:
What is loading it?
What keeps feeding it?
What movements change it?
What needs assessment before you keep pushing through?

Posture can be a protection strategy when the neck, back, hips, or ribs do not feel safe loading normally.

For mechanical neck, back, low-back, mid-back, headache, posture, or sciatica patterns, chiropractic care may be part of an active care plan alongside movement, exercise, and self-management. The first step is working out what is driving the pain.

You don't have to sit in pain.

If sitting makes your lower back pain worse, you’re not alone. Long periods in one position can increase stiffness and discomfort around the lumbar spine.

Here are 3 simple ways to help:

1️⃣ Change Position Regularly
Your back generally doesn’t love staying in one position for too long. Stand up, walk around, or change your sitting position every 30–45 minutes.

2️⃣ Set Up Your Chair
Keep your feet supported on the floor, knees around hip height, and allow your lower back to maintain a comfortable natural curve. Avoid constantly slouching forward.

3️⃣ Move Your Back
Try gentle lumbar movements throughout the day. A few repetitions of pelvic tilts or standing back extensions can help reduce stiffness and keep your spine moving.

💡 The key isn't finding one “perfect” sitting position—it’s avoiding staying still for too long.

If your lower back pain is persistent, worsening, or affecting your daily activities, consider getting it assessed by a qualified healthcare professional.

You twist at your desk. You stretch on the jobsite. You feel the pop. The pain eases for a few minutes. Then it comes back.

Cracking your own back isn't dangerous in moderation, but it's not what you think it is.

Here's what's happening: when you self-crack, gas escapes from inside a joint capsule. The "pop" is cavitation, the same sound your knuckles make. It feels good because your nervous system rewards joint movement.

But the joint that pops easily is usually NOT the joint causing the pain. It's a more mobile neighbour. The actual irritated joint is harder to reach. It's holding the chronic pattern. You can crack the easy joints all day and the pattern stays.

If you're cracking the same spot 5+ times a day for the same relief, that's worth getting looked at. The crack feels like progress.

You felt it years ago.

You decided it was nothing. You stretched it. You changed the chair. You kept going.

The pain didn't go away. It got quieter. Your body learned to compensate. You stopped noticing what you used to feel — and slowly stopped doing some of the things you used to do.

This is how chronic back pain works. It doesn't suddenly get worse. You finally notice.

If you've been pushing through neck, low back, mid back, or sciatica pain for months or years — and you're starting to wonder when it'll just be over — that's the moment to come in.

Our new-patient assessment includes a full exam, a plain-English explanation of what's actually happening, and a first treatment. EPC referrals from your GP are bulk-billed. DVA Gold and White Cards are accepted.
