I’ve been a little quiet on here lately 🤍

Life has been full of change — relocating home, heart, mind and clinic space!

So for now, socials have taken a bit of a back seat while I settle in, find my feet and create a new home for Spanda.

Sessions are continuing as usual, and I’ll be back sharing more soon.

The Four Agreements – Don Miguel Ruiz

I read this book many years ago and it holds a special place in my heart. It's one of those books whose ideas somehow become woven into the way you think and live.

The premise is beautifully simple—four agreements we can make with ourselves that invite greater freedom, awareness and peace. Simple, of course, doesn't necessarily mean easy!

I've returned to its wisdom many times over the years, both personally and in my work. It's a beautiful reminder of how much can shift when we become more conscious of the beliefs, assumptions and patterns we're living from.

It's not only on my bookshelf, but also a visual cue, list of the 4 agreements on my fridge 😉

Have you read it? I'd love to know which of the four agreements has stayed with you most.

Sometimes the best support isn’t sharing what we already know — it’s getting curious about what we don’t yet know.

Understanding before advice. So the other person can feel felt. 🤍

Healing Collective Trauma– Thomas Hübl

One of the things that fascinates me most in clinic is how often themes emerge that don't seem to belong solely to the person sitting in front of me. Family patterns. Unspoken loyalties. Emotional burdens that appear to have travelled quietly through generations.

Thomas Hübl explores this beautifully. He suggests that trauma doesn't exist only within individuals—it can also be carried through families, communities and cultures, until someone has the capacity to consciously meet it.

What I find especially powerful is his exploration of collective healing. Rather than seeing healing as something we must do alone, he describes how being deeply witnessed and safely "held" within a group can create the conditions for old patterns to soften, integrate and transform. There is something profoundly human about healing in connection with others.

My thoughts: This book stretched my understanding of trauma beyond the individual and invited me to think more deeply about our interconnectedness. It's one I've returned to more than once, and each time I discover another layer.

**Have you ever experienced a group healing, retreat or workshop where simply being with others became part of the healing itself?**

And if I were to offer small, thoughtfully facilitated healing and self-enquiry circles here on the Mornington Peninsula... would that be something you'd be interested in?

One of the things I love most about working with children is how often the process opens something up for the parent too — a little more awareness, understanding and trust in their own intuition. 🤍

Reacting or responding?

They can look pretty similar from the outside — but internally, they’re very different.

This Ask Emma is about noticing the difference… and creating a little more choice in the moment.

From Boys to Men – Maggie Dent

The great Maggie Dent helps us in understanding boys and supporting them as they grow into emotionally healthy young men.

My thoughts: As both a boy-mum and practitioner, I found SO much of this incredibly valuable. Full of warmth, wisdom and practical insights.

Have you read it? I'd love to know your thoughts—especially if you're raising or working with boys.

The Joy Reset – MaryCatherine McDonald

Six Ways Trauma Steals Happiness and How to Win It Back

This book explores how life's challenges and our personal traumas can quietly disconnect us from joy—and how that isn't a personal failing.

Drawing on both research and lived experience, MaryCatherine McDonald offers a hopeful path towards reconnecting with the parts of ourselves that know how to feel alive again.

My thoughts: I loved the gentle, validating approach of this book. It reminded me that joy isn't something we have to earn - we can slowly reconnect with it, as we heal. In fact, it is WITH the reconnecting to joy that healing happens.

Have you read this one? I'd love to know what you thought—or whether there's another book on healing or trauma that has stayed with you.
