Our animal enclosure is back at the DAL Expo Adelaide this week! 🎉

Each year the Pearsons team sets up an animal enclosure at the Disability, Ageing and Lifestyle Expo, and this year there’s a special guest. Princess Fiona, the baby donkey from Pearsons Farm & Animal Rescue, has been getting float-ready with her mum so she can make the trip.

The enclosure is a true team effort. Pearsons Services and Pearsons Farm & Animal Rescue come together every year to plan it, build it and add all the little touches that make it special. Our goal is a welcoming, accessible space where everyone can relax, connect and enjoy some time with the animals. We’re proud of what we create together and can’t wait to share it with you. 🤝

While you’re visiting, have a chat with our friendly team about our wonderful new Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes. We’re very proud of our SIL service and the homes we’ve created. Each one is well presented and comfortable, designed to feel like home, and backed by a caring, dedicated support team. Our team is happy to talk you through our SIL vacancies and the support we offer, and to answer any questions about how we can help you or your loved one live well. 🏡

🐮 Animal Social Time—make friends with two legs AND four!

Join us at Pearson’s Farm & Animal Rescue in Clarendon for eight weeks of animals, friendships and farm adventures! 💚
Our farm is also an animal rescue and registered charity, providing a safe, loving home for animals in need. Children get to know our rescued residents and learn about kindness, respect and caring for animals.
Each week features a different animal theme, and we encourage children to choose activities together, share ideas and help shape their afternoon.
Activities include:
🌿 Meet the Farm: Explore the farm, feed our animal friends and make dough animals.
🐔 Chickens & Eggs: Collect eggs, decorate an egg and learn about the incubator.
🫏 Princess Fiona: Brush our donkey and search the hay for a mysterious “donkey egg”!
🐑 Sheep & Lambs: Feed the sheep, help bottle-feed lambs and create wool crafts.
🐣 Hello, Chicks! Meet the chicks, pick greens for the chickens and paint a sunflower pot.
🦘 Kangaroo Time: Meet our kangaroos, watch a joey have its bottle and plant sunflower seeds.
🐮 Highland Calves: Meet, feed and brush our fluffy calves, then visit the big cows.
🐴 Horses & Ponies: Meet our horses and ponies and make animal treats.
Through shared activities, children can build confidence, practise communication, take turns, work together and develop friendships, supporting their social goals in a relaxed farm setting.
There’s always someone pleased to see you—especially if you’re carrying a feed bucket! 😂

Join our Pearson Services crew for live bands, dancing, lunch and a Sunday spent making friends at The Gov. There are door prizes too—but we can’t promise your dance moves will influence the draw! 😉

Come for the music, have a boogie or enjoy watching the band. There’s room for everyone to have fun their own way. 💙

🐴 Still searching for the right person to join our farm team in Clarendon! 🌿

Confident with horses and experienced in disability support? We’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for someone to work alongside our senior staff member to help run our horse groups, supporting participants to learn, connect and enjoy time with our horses safely.

Ideally, you’ll be available:
🐴 After school, 4:00–6:00 pm, to help with horse groups.
🎉 Some Saturdays, to assist with groups and children’s parties.

You’ll help participants practise skills such as listening, following instructions, working with a peer and taking turns—with our horses providing plenty of motivation!

We’re looking for someone who is:

Experienced and confident handling horses.

Experienced in supporting people with disability.

Comfortable around other farm animals.

Calm, reliable, practical and safety-focused.

Able to adapt support to each participant.

Happy to get their hands—and occasionally their boots—dirty!

Our Clarendon farm is home to horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens, Highland cows, kangaroos and plenty of other personalities. Some are more helpful than others when it comes to getting the jobs done! 😄

Horse experience is essential for this role. Ideally, you’re an experienced Disability Support Worker who feels equally comfortable supporting a participant and handling a horse.

And, as an added workplace bonus, you’ll meet our very strong contender for the world’s cutest baby donkey: Princess Fiona Alice Pearson! 😍🫏

🌿 Pearson Services is growing... and we have some exciting people leading the way!

Over the past couple of months, we've welcomed two experienced leaders to the Pearson Services family.

🌿 Damian Glancy joined us seven weeks ago as our General Manager.
🌿 Paul Marshall joined us two weeks ago as our Operations Manager.

Together, they bring a wealth of leadership experience, fresh ideas and a genuine passion for supporting our participants, families and team.

To say I'm excited is an understatement!
As the Founder and Managing Director of Pearson Services, I am already noticing the difference Damian and Paul are making.

Their experience and leadership are helping our organisation continue to grow while staying true to what has always mattered most—providing personalised, high-quality supports for the people we work alongside every day.

Having Damian and Paul on board is also giving me the opportunity to spend more time focusing on the bigger picture, developing new ideas, supporting our participants and, of course, spending a little more time at Pearson's Farm & Animal Rescue.
The farm has always been my happy place, and with Damian and Paul helping steer the ship, I might finally get to enjoy it a little more... which is perfect timing because we have another five orphaned joeys arriving soon! 🦘💚

(If you know me well, you'll know I don't need much of an excuse to disappear and cuddle baby animals! 🐴🐐🦘)

Pearson Services has come a long way since we first opened our doors, and it's exciting to have such experienced leaders helping us continue to grow while keeping the same family values that have always been at the heart of everything we do.

🌟 Meet Tanya! 🌟

As Pearson Services continues to grow, so does our team. With two new Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes recently joining our services, there's plenty happening behind the scenes to ensure every home continues to provide safe, high-quality supports.

That's where Tanya comes in!
As part of our SIL team, Tanya spends much of her time visiting our homes, supporting mentors, helping teams solve problems, and making sure our participants receive the high standard of care they're entitled to.

She's also helping lead the way as we implement the new NDIS SIL Practice Standards—reviewing documentation, supporting staff, completing quality audits, and ensuring our homes are always improving.

No two days are ever the same! One day you'll find Tanya in the office, the next she'll be out visiting one of our houses with a folder in one hand, a coffee in the other, and probably asking, "How can I help?" 😊

As we continue to grow, we're committed to investing in great people who support both our participants and our staff every step of the way.

🌿 Meet the Pearson Services Behaviour Support Team 🌿

Our team is growing—and there’s a familiar face coming back! Zane is returning to Pearsons after a couple of years working elsewhere, and we’re very happy to welcome him back. 💚

Cassie, one of our speech pathologists, is also joining the team. Communication and behaviour are closely connected, so having a speech pathologist on board makes perfect sense. When words are tricky, behaviour often does the talking!

Understanding behaviour starts with getting to know the person—their needs, experiences, communication and what matters to them.

Our team does more than gather information and write behaviour support plans. We work directly with participants through ongoing therapy, helping them build skills and putting strategies into practice in everyday life.

Our experienced behaviour practitioners work at a senior level, with at least four years’ experience each. Zane and Mike are also senior social workers, bringing a wealth of experience supporting participants and families.

💚 Cassie and Mia are missing from our photo, but very much part of the team! Getting everyone in the same place at the same time might need a support plan of its own. 😉

🐴 For participants who love animals, sessions can take place at our Clarendon farm. Animals can encourage engagement and help with emotional regulation, while the natural surroundings offer space to connect, learn and practise new skills—with the occasional curious donkey checking in on proceedings!

We’re here to listen, understand and work towards meaningful goals together. 🌱
