🧔 A NEW LOOK FOR JP CATTLE CO. šŸ¤Ž

Well… we’ve gone and given ourselves a little makeover! 🤠 Our old logo has served us well for almost 7 years! But given all the exciting changes and growth, it was time for an upgrade šŸ˜

Introducing the new J.P Cattle Co. logo - and there was really only one Longhorn who could feature front and centre…

Our very own home-bred trophy steer, JPC Chippewa — aka Chippy. šŸ¤šŸ©¶šŸ–¤

From a little snowball of a calf to our resident 95+ inch, show-ring superstar, Chippy has been a pretty special part of the J.P Cattle Co. story.

So it felt only right that a piece of him should become a part of our brand too.

Same cattle.
Same crazy Longhorn obsession.
Same small family-run program.
Just a fresh new look. 🤠

Here’s to the next chapter of J.P Cattle Co. — and plenty more big horns to come! šŸ˜‰šŸŒµšŸ‚

A heartfelt update from me ā¤ļø

Things have been very quiet at Carrington Saddlery, and I need to be honest—if work continues at this level, it simply won’t be viable for me to keep going.

After 26 years of doing what I love, that’s a really sad thought. I’ve always been passionate about creating well-made, realistically priced saddlery, with options to suit different horses, riders and budgets. Seeing my work enjoyed by you and your horses has meant so much to me.

I haven’t made a final decision, but if things don’t pick up, this Christmas may mark the end of Carrington Saddlery.

I know I’m not the only small business owner feeling the pinch, and customers are doing it tough too. Fuel and everyday costs put pressure on everyone, leaving less room in the budget for those extra purchases.

If you’re able to, please support the small businesses you love. Buy what you can, however small it may be. And when spending isn’t possible, sharing a post, leaving a kind review or recommending them to a friend can still make a difference. Please spread that support around—there are hardworking people and families behind these businesses. ā¤ļø

If you’ve been considering an order, a Christmas gift or some new tack from Carrington, I would truly appreciate your support.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years. I’d love to keep creating for you, and I’m hoping there are still more chapters ahead.

Pain Isn’t Always Where the Problem Is

One of the biggest misconceptions about pain is that it always tells you where the problem is.

A recent patient, Monty, is a great example of this.

Monty was referred by his veterinary surgeon following a diagnosis of left shoulder tendinitis. On initial assessment, there was obvious tightness throughout the left shoulder and thoracic sling muscles, along with a mild left forelimb lameness.

But the full assessment revealed much more.

Months of protecting that sore shoulder had changed the way Monty moved. He had developed significant muscle tension and hypertonicity through his right hindlimb, particularly the gracilis muscle, with reduced muscle flexibility and discomfort on palpation. These weren’t primary injuries—they were secondary compensatory changes caused by his altered gait.

This is something I see regularly in dogs with injuries.

If we only focused treatment on Monty’s shoulder, we would have missed the secondary restrictions that had developed elsewhere.

This is why every assessment I perform looks at the whole dog, their posture, gait, movement patterns, muscle tone and fascial restrictions, not just the area where they’re showing pain.

Pain is the symptom.

Understanding why the body has adapted is where meaningful rehabilitation begins.

Monty is now progressing well with a rehabilitation programme designed to address both the original injury and the compensatory changes that developed over time.
