As the end of 2018 draws near (and so quickly too!), where are you at with your dreams and goals for your health?

Have you gotten yourself to a place where you are happy with your achievements and where you’re at? Or are you still at a place that you don’t like?

How many years have you been in this undesirable place?

Have you tried all sorts of diets, gone to the gym, etc., but still stayed the same? Or maybe you lost a few kg’s, just to put them all back on again.

Is 2019 going to be another year, just like this one? Or are you going to do something different to reach your goals this time?

We all have different goals, different starting points and different obstacles to overcome. To make a positive change in your life, it takes dedication and hard work. Changing old habits that have been around for a while can be sooo challenging.

A decade of bad habits can’t be changed in a 12 week ‘challenge’. It takes time and is a staged process.

Whatever changes you make, they need to be for life. And the desire to change needs to come from within. It needs to be more than ‘ I want to look good in bathers ‘ . You’re more likely to succeed if the desire is to – have more energy, get less headaches, be a role model for my kids and family, be healthy and strong, not be a victim of type 2 diabetes like the rest of my family – you get where I’m coming from.

I love smoothies, I have one nearly every day!

So I've been busy working on a few smoothie creations and am putting them all together into a little e-book 😋. I'll be talking about the ingredients and why I choose the brands that I do. Also where I source things like berries, from up the road in Silvan.

How did today's sunshine make you feel? It really makes me feel so much better, I'm definitely not a winter person!

I came home from work and then had to clean the kitchen so that I could cook! I got Miss 7 in there once I'd tidied and we made one of my fav cakes, Zucchini Choc Cake...yummo!

It comes out all fudgy and delish.

Then we started dinner and I headed off to a Combat Class to sweat it up to some loud music and a bunch of cool chicks.

I try to get my kids in the kitchen as often as I can, this allows us to spend time together and to make some healthy treats (even though most of the time they don't eat it,,,so you guessed it, I do 😉😉).

But it's all about setting the foundations, I'm pretty sure they listen to my health preaching...well at least some times!

Do you like to have a soft drink fairly often?

There are better choices out there and it's just a matter of swapping 😉. Everything we do is out of habit, so it's a matter of creating a new, healthier habit.

For example if you have a can of coke everyday, why not set a goal for yourself to switch it out with some kombucha?

Even better (and cheaper) is good old filtered tap water, maybe with a little ice and a dash of freshly squeezed lime juice ❤.

SWAP TO KOMBUCHA, REDUCE YOUR SUGAR BY 11KGS A YEAR!!

We don’t like to bog you lot down with a bunch of stats, but look, we just can’t keep this one to ourselves….

Australians consume an average of 60 grams of free sugars per day, with just over half (52%) of this consumed from beverages. That’s 7 ½ teaspoons per day, or, more than 11kg of sugar per year… from sugary drinks alone. This isn’t factoring in any chocolate or ice-cream we eat along the way.

Now cop this: It’s been estimated that:

One sugary drink per day, leads to 7kg weight gain each year!!

Yep, scary stuff.

Plus, when you consume 2 cans of sugary drinks per day, this doubles the risk of developing type 2 diabetes

Okay, so how can you avoid this? We’ve found swapping to a no-fructose fizzy kombucha to work particularly well. We’ve put our I Quit Sugar Recommends Tick to Remedy Drinks for this reason. It, literally, ticks off our criteria. Their kombucha naturally contains literally no sugar. AT ALL!
No other kombucha can make this claim.

Most others contain around 10g, about 2 ½ teaspoons per bottle.

We recently went to check out their factory in Melbourne to see for ourselves how they reach these ridiculously low levels. Here’s how they do it:

> They ferment their kombucha old-school and real. Yep, the “grassroots” SCOBY, organic sugar and organic tea method.
> They ferment for 30 days. Until they cannot detect the sugar anymore. They have Steve, their fermentation scientist, on hand to do these tests daily to make sure the kombucha maintains the fizz and flavour but doesn’t turn to vinegar.
> They flavour their kombucha with organic ingredients like cold-pressed ginger, hibiscus or raspberries and add in a little fructose-free stevia and erythritol to balance the flavours and add a touch of sweetness.
> Their live culture is a relative of the one that the owners of
Remedy Drinks, Emmet and Sarah, started with at home more than 10 years ago. And the culture dates back to more than 40 years! The brews are carefully cared for throughout the fermentation period to ensure the live culture stays alive right through shelf life - no pasteurising, no preservatives. Just a whole lot of gut-loving goodness!

Since Sarah Wilson shared sugar science and IQS philosophies to the founders of Remedy, Sarah and Emmet 5 years ago, we’re so stoked to see them run with the message and create what literally is, the best kombucha on the market.

As great as No Pong is, I'm going to give this one a try just to mix it up a bit.

Hopefully it passes the super sweaty workout test that I do every day!

Moving your body is soooo important.

If you can find the right fit for you in a fitness centre, that's great, it can be life changing. And there are heaps of non traditional gyms out there that offer a more personalised service.

But is a gym essential when it comes to moving your body if thats not your scene? No!

Walking is the easiest thing you can do, especially if your just getting started. And if you walk in the bush it does so much for your mind as well.

If you want some fun however 😁😁, then why not head to YouTube and checkout The Fitness Marshall and start bopping around the lounge room!

This is one of my favs and nice and easy for daggy dancers like me 😉😉.
