πŸ‘ Dottie the Lamb is stealing hearts at Roseville! πŸ‘

Dottie has quickly become a much-loved part of our Day Options program, with our clients loving the opportunity to help care for her and learn all about what it takes to look after a lamb. ❀️

From preparing her bottle and following instructions, to measuring, feeding, grooming and learning about her needs, there are so many real-life skills involved in caring for Dottie.

It’s about more than just having fun (and lots of cuddles)
β€” it’s about building capacity, confidence and independence through meaningful, hands-on experiences. 🌱

And we think it’s safe to say… Dottie has become quite the Roseville favourite! πŸ‘πŸ’š

πŸ’™ Out & About in Our Community with LCA! 🌿

There’s so much to see, do and experience when you have the right support beside you!

Today, Troy, Ben and Nath made the most of what was happening in our local community. πŸš—πŸ¦ŽπŸ₯½

πŸš— Troy, who LOVES cars, headed along to Coffee & Cars and enjoyed checking out all the vehicles.

🦎 Ben and Nath got up close with reptiles, experienced some VR and explored the science fair β€” taking in the experiments, listening, looking and discovering new things along the way!

At Limestone Coast Ability, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to be involved in their community, follow their interests and experience new things. Community participation can help build confidence, independence, social skills and friendships β€” while having FUN along the way! πŸ™Œ

Have an interest, hobby or somewhere you’d love to go?
Our team can support you to make it happen and help you become more connected and active in your community. πŸ’™

πŸŒΏβ˜€οΈ Making the most of the warmer weather at LCA! πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’ͺ

With the nicer weather starting to arrive, some of our guys have been getting out and about, enjoying the fresh air and getting those steps up! πŸ‘

Mal and Coby have been doing a fantastic job with their walks around the Blue Lake and Centenary Tower, with Coby taking it one step further β€” completing a lap around the Blue Lake followed by a walk up to Centenary Tower! πŸ₯ΎπŸ‘ What an effort!

And we have another gentleman who has set himself a fantastic goal β€” he has started a virtual walk from Buckingham Palace to Balmoral Castle! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‘‘ With a map printed out to track his pedometer steps and kilometres, he is hoping to complete the journey by the end of September. We’ll be watching those kilometres add up! πŸ“πŸ‘£

Walking isn’t just about getting fitter. Regular walking can help with:
❀️ Improving physical health and fitness
🧠 Supporting mental wellbeing and reducing stress
😴 Helping with sleep and energy levels
πŸ’ͺ Building strength, stamina and confidence
🌳 Getting out into the community and enjoying the outdoors
🀝 Creating opportunities for social connection and participation

At Limestone Coast Ability, we encourage active participation and help the people we support set goals that are meaningful to them. Whether that’s completing a lap of the Blue Lake, reaching the top of Centenary Tower or virtually walking across the UK virtually β€” every step counts! πŸ‘£

It’s about building healthy routines, increasing independence, working towards personal goals and, most importantly, having fun along the way! πŸ’š

Great work, guys πŸšΆπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

πŸ“’ IMPORTANT NDIS UPDATE FOR PARTICIPANTS & FAMILIES

The new NDIS laws have started today β€” 27 August 2026.

We know there has been a lot of information and discussion around the NDIS changes, and it can be difficult to understand what they actually mean for you.

The most important thing to know is:

πŸ‘‰ Not all changes happen today.
πŸ‘‰ The reforms will be introduced gradually over the coming months and years.
πŸ‘‰ Your current plan and supports continue as usual unless the NDIS advises you that a change applies to you.

πŸ“… KEY DATES AT A GLANCE

🟒 27 AUGUST 2026
The new legislation commences. Some new requirements, including record-keeping arrangements, begin.

🟑 1 OCTOBER 2026
Further changes begin for new plans and reassessments, including changes relating to reasonable and necessary supports and some social, community participation and capacity-building supports.

🟠 1 DECEMBER 2026
New claiming timeframes are introduced, including a general 90-day timeframe for making NDIS claims.

πŸ”΅ 1 FEBRUARY 2027
Changes to plan funding and rollover arrangements begin.

🟣 1 APRIL 2027
The new framework for planning and support needs assessments begins rolling out.

🟠 1 JULY 2027
Changes begin around some higher-risk supports and registered providers.

πŸ”΅ 1 OCTOBER 2027
Changes to approved plan-management arrangements begin.

🟣 FROM 1 JANUARY 2028
Changes to NDIS access for new applicants begin, with existing participants transitioning to the new arrangements over time.

🟒 1 JULY 2028
The new support coordination and connection service begins.

❀️ WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

There is no need to panic or make changes to your supports simply because the legislation has commenced today.

The changes will be introduced progressively, and the NDIS will provide further information as each stage comes into effect.

At Limestone Coast Ability, our priority remains the people we support. We will continue to keep participants, families and support networks informed as more information becomes available and work with you through any changes that may affect your individual supports.

πŸ“Œ Please remember: everyone’s circumstances and NDIS plans are different. Not every change will apply to every participant at the same time.

If you have questions or are unsure how a change may affect you, please speak with your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager, LAC or the NDIA.

πŸ“„ We have attached the NDIS participant timeline so participants and families can see the changes and dates in one place.

Information current as at 27 August 2026. This post is general information only and does not replace advice from the NDIA.

The Parliament has passed new NDIS laws. These are the changes participants and providers can expect.

πŸ₯¬πŸŒ― Fresh, healthy & full of goodness! 🌯πŸ₯•

Our Day Options crew recently had a go at making cold rolls for the very first time β€” and what a great job they did! πŸ˜‹πŸ‘

Packed with fresh ingredients, these were a delicious way to learn about healthy food while having fun together.

Cooking activities are also a fantastic opportunity to build independence, confidence and real-life skills β€” following instructions, measuring, making choices, preparing food, kitchen safety and cleaning up afterwards.

It’s all about learning, having fun and giving things a go! πŸ’š

Looking for a Day Options program where skills, friendships and fun come together? Come and see what we’re all about! 🌯😊

🌈 Tie-Dye Fun at Day Options! 🌈

A little colour, creativity and plenty of fun at Day Options! 🎨

Our guys got stuck into tie-dying, building skills along the way β€” following instructions, measuring, making choices, practising fine motor skills and being creative with their designs.

There were plenty of laughs, a few colourful surprises and lots of pride in seeing their creations come to life!

And don’t they look great! 😍🌈

Another fun day of learning, creating and building independence at Day Options. πŸ’™

πŸ‘ Meet Dottie β€” the newest member of our Day Options family! πŸ’•

We’ve recently welcomed a very special little visitor to Day Options β€” our gorgeous lamb, Dottie! πŸ‘

The guys have really enjoyed having Dottie around and are learning all about what’s involved in caring for a young lamb, including bottle feeding, measuring milk powder, following instructions and making sure she has everything she needs. 🍼

It’s a great hands-on opportunity to develop practical skills such as following directions, measuring, communication, responsibility, confidence and building independence β€” all while learning through a real-life experience.

We think it’s safe to say Dottie is a bit of a hit! πŸ‘πŸ’•

πŸ’™ AT LIMESTONE COAST ABILITY, THE PERSON ALWAYS COMES FIRST. πŸ’™

When you choose a disability support provider, you are trusting them with something incredibly important β€” your life, your choices, your independence and your goals.

At Limestone Coast Ability (LCA), our number one priority is the individual person we support.

We don’t believe in a β€œone size fits all” approach.

We believe in working WITH people, not doing things FOR them β€” supporting people to build skills, make their own choices, develop independence and live a life that is meaningful to them.

🌿 WHAT MAKES LCA DIFFERENT?

Our commitment to quality starts with our people.

LCA is a Registered NDIS Provider, which means we operate within the NDIS regulatory framework and are committed to meeting the required NDIS Practice Standards, quality and safety requirements and safeguarding the rights of the people we support.

For families and participants, choosing a Registered NDIS Provider provides the reassurance that they are engaging an organisation that is accountable to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and is required to meet nationally recognised standards for the delivery of disability supports.

Our support workers, Team Leaders and management team are appropriately qualified, experienced and committed to ongoing professional development.

Training doesn’t stop when someone starts working with us.

Our team undertakes ongoing training and competency development, including areas such as:

βœ”οΈ Person-centred practice
βœ”οΈ Supported decision-making
βœ”οΈ Human rights
βœ”οΈ Medication administration and management
βœ”οΈ Manual handling
βœ”οΈ MAPA and responding safely to behaviours of concern
βœ”οΈ Restrictive practices
βœ”οΈ First Aid
βœ”οΈ Infection control
βœ”οΈ Epilepsy and seizure management
βœ”οΈ Diabetes management
βœ”οΈ PEG and enteral feeding
βœ”οΈ Catheter care
βœ”οΈ Bowel management
βœ”οΈ Food safety
βœ”οΈ Professional boundaries
βœ”οΈ Risk management
βœ”οΈ Abuse awareness and safeguarding
βœ”οΈ NDIS practice and responsibilities
βœ”οΈ Disability-specific skills and knowledge

We also invest in structured online and workplace learning so our staff are continually developing their knowledge and skills.

Because quality support requires more than good intentions β€” it requires knowledge, training, consistency, accountability and genuinely caring about the person you support.
