The body is the landing place for new Energy. When the nervous system is regulated, energy can land, move & integrate 🎇

For the Energy to integrate, the body must be resourced & have enough capacity to receive it.

The Lantern Within - A Winter Solstice Gathering

An evening of embodied movement, nervous system softening and gentle healing.

A space to exhale, unwind and step away from the constant demands of life.

We gather in candlelight to honour the Winter Solstice - the longest night of the year.
A sacred pause.
A threshold.
A turning inward.

Through gentle movement, meditation and energy healing, we will guide the body towards softness, settling into the beautiful winter cocoons that offer warmth, stillness and quiet illumination.

Together, we soften into the season.
Into stillness.
Into ourselves.

The longest night.
The light within.

There is a moment in every transformation where the old way no longer fits, but the new way has not fully arrived.

That space can feel raw.
Tender.
Like friction beneath the skin.

We often think something has gone wrong there but sometimes this is the sacred burn of change.

The nervous system is recalibrating. Identity is loosening. The body is learning how to stop gripping what once kept it safe and before the shift occurs, there is often a period where everything feels intensified … not because you are failing, but because you are close to crossing a threshold.

The burn is not punishment. It is alchemy.

It is the sensation of outgrowing a pattern while still standing inside it. The ache of becoming conscious of what can no longer continue. The discomfort of no longer being able to abandon yourself in the familiar ways.

This is why so many people retreat just before the opening arrives. The final layers often feel the most uncomfortable because they ask for surrender, not force.

To stay present inside the discomfort without immediately numbing, fixing, fleeing or collapsing … this is sacred work.

Not glorifying suffering. Not remaining in harm, but allowing the system enough presence to complete the transition it has been moving toward.

Because eventually, something softens.

The fight eases.
The breath deepens.
The current begins moving again.

What once felt like burning reveals itself as refinement.

Soma Lumen understands that healing is not always gentle in sensation, even when it is sacred in nature.

Sometimes the body trembles before it trusts.
Sometimes the heart aches before it opens.
Sometimes the nervous system resists right before it reorganises into greater coherence.

The return of ease and flow is not the absence of discomfort. It is what emerges after we stop resisting the transformation asking to move through us.

Sometimes expansion does not arrive as clarity, sometimes it arrives as discomfort, as disruption, as the quiet unraveling of the ways we once learned to survive.

In Soma Lumen, we often speak about the body not as something broken, but as something adapting.

The nervous system creates patterns to keep us safe, ways of thinking, moving, holding and relating to the world.

But eventually there comes a moment where the old way no longer fits the person we are becoming and this is where discomfort enters.

Not always as a sign that something is wrong,
but sometimes as an invitation to expand beyond familiar limitations.

The body may feel unsettled. The mind may seek certainty. Parts of us may want to retreat back into what is known.

Yet within that tension exists a doorway.

A chance to soften outdated patterns.
To create new pathways.
To allow the system to discover that growth does not always require force.
Sometimes it simply requires enough safety to stay present through change.

Expansion is rarely comfortable in the beginning. The nervous system often interprets the unfamiliar as unsafe before it learns that something new is possible, and so the practice becomes less about resisting discomfort and more about learning how to meet it gently.

Breath by breath.
Moment by moment.
Layer by layer.

Not becoming someone else but returning to the fuller expression of who you already are.

There are parts of us that know how to rise like fire. To create, to desire, to move, to burn through what no longer fits.

And there are parts of us that arrive like water. Softening the edges, cooling the overwhelm, holding what the fire could not carry alone.

For so long, we are taught to choose one.

Be powerful or be gentle.
Be driven or be soft.
Be the spark or the stillness.

But the body does not work in absolutes. Nature does not heal through separation. Within us lives both.

The fire that awakens truth.
The water that teaches surrender.
The heat of transformation.
The quiet return to self.

Soma Lumen is not about becoming only light or only softness.
It is about learning to hold the full elemental landscape of who you are.

To let the fire move what has become stagnant and let the water soothe what has been burning for too long.

You do not have to extinguish your intensity to become peaceful. You do not have to harden yourself to become powerful.

You are allowed to be both.

The flame and the exhale after it.

Have you ever looked up at the sky and felt a subtle opening… not just above you, but within you?

As if the clouds were mirroring something in your own field.

A softening.
A widening.
A quiet shift in the body.

In Soma Lumen, we don’t see these “portals” as something separate or external.

They are reflections of an inner readiness.
Moments where your system begins to reorganise - where the familiar loosens and something new starts to emerge.

Not through force.
Not through striving.

But through availability.

A portal is a point of coherence. Where who you have been and who you are becoming begin to meet.

You might feel it as a breath that drops deeper.
A settling in the nervous system. A gentle unwinding of what you’ve been holding.

Patterns soften.
Space opens.
Energy begins to move differently.

And from that place, something new becomes possible. Not because you’ve pushed for change but because you’ve allowed alignment.

The sky doesn’t create the shift.
It reflects it.

An invitation to listen.
To follow.
To trust the intelligence already moving within you.

This is how the next chapter begins.

Not by reaching for it but by letting your body lead you there.

I can say without a word of a lie that this whole adventure for my 50th birthday has been divinely guided. There have been moments where things were canceled, where we made choices different to our itinerary and when we just let the energy guide us.
To have been guided and supported the way we have by the universe has been remarkable!!! As a massive believer of all of this, it has still floored me ❤️
When I have followed my intuition, when we have rolled with the punches, when things have turned upside down - they have all been part of the bigger plan, the bigger WHY.
Tim and I on reflection last night, our last night in Paris before our flights home today, pondered our favourite part of our month long voyage … and the cool thing was neither of us could narrow it down to fewer than 4 things !!!
There’s no one thing that stands out, and that makes my heart swell, to think that this trip has filled us with so many wonderful memories and experiences that there’s no distinct favourite 🫶🏻
We have loved different things for different reasons, and we also have loved the flexibility and the experiences we have had when plans have shifted. The 2 tours we canceled ourselves have been the perfect choice, there’s no FOMO our doubt that we made the right decision. The 2 tours that were canceled on us also worked out because we made different choices that felt much more aligned to us in the moment ❤️👏🏻
While my nervous system is craving some comfort and routine, I must say that it has done an amazing job of keeping me safe and reasonably stable 🙈😂 I’ve let the tears flow when I’ve needed to, poor Tim has seen his fair share of emotion from me, which is a huge step in my vulnerability - and despite some jokes of how a month together would fare for us, we have become a tight cohesive unit who support and hold each other as we experience life over here🥰🙏🏻
We are now nestled in our day hotel in Paris waiting for the big bird to jet us home .. a small stopover in Singapore but pretty much the next 24 hours on a plane … the price we pay to stretch our lives open ✈️❤️🥰🙏🏻
