💚 SEPTEMBER | SU***DE PREVENTION MONTH
Depression doesn’t always look like sadness.
Sometimes it looks like going to work.
Looking after the kids.
Answering messages.
Making jokes.
Getting everything done.
And quietly struggling underneath it all.
You don’t have to be at breaking point to ask for help — and you don’t need to have the right words before making an appointment.
🩺 So, what can your GP actually do?
Your GP can give you a safe place to start the conversation, assess how you’re feeling and how it’s affecting your life, discuss treatment options, organise a Mental Health Treatment Plan or referral when appropriate, and help connect you with further support.
Most importantly, they can help you work out what happens next.
You can start with something as simple as:
“I haven’t been feeling like myself lately.”
That is enough to begin. 💚
If you’ve been functioning on the outside but struggling on the inside, make an appointment with your GP. You deserve support before things become overwhelming.
