Big weekend ahead for Mount Isa 🏃‍♂️

Great to see so many people getting behind Outback to the Stack.

We’ll be down there supporting the event and helping runners with recovery afterwards.

If you’re running this weekend, don’t forget to think about recovery as part of the plan too.

See you there 🤝

🏃The countdown is on!🏃🏻‍♀️

▶IsaRats annual Outback to Stack kicks off this weekend with a record number of runners and walkers registered to partipate across five events.

📈Over the last three years, the event which takes runners from the city out to Lake Moondara has boomed from about 90 to nearly 200 participants.

📌DETAILS:
🏁 Marathon starts at 4.30am at Lake Moondarra BBQ area
🏁Half marathon walk starts at 5.30am at Barkly State School
🏁Half Marathon run starts at 6.45am at Barkly State School
🏁 10km run starts at 7.30am at Lake Moondarra BBQ area
🏁5km run starts at 8am at Lake Moondarra BBQ

🗣Organiser Morne Sher said the events uniqueness has helped it grow each year.

"I don't think there's another 42km marathon run in the outback," Mr Sher said.

"It's a small little town that's got a full marathon and you're running in the desert."

👟The marathon kicks off at 4.30am Sunday morning and unlike previous years, will traverse the side path out to the lake adding a total of 252m in elevation gain.

🗣Mr Sher said while some sports in town are struggling, running has exploded.

"All sports I think are struggling, but running is, I think, just, it's taken off. And I think it's also because it's so easy.

"You just wake up in the morning, put your joggers on and you go and you run."

Four days of noise, crowds and adrenaline. Your nervous system doesn’t get a break at the rodeo, and neither does your energy.

Add a few late nights and it catches up fast: crashed energy, wired but tired, rough mornings after.

This is where stillness comes in. Twenty minutes in the infrared sauna or the plunge is enough to bring your body out of fight-or-flight and reset. Better sleep, clearer head, steadier energy for the next day.

Rodeo Weekend Pass: $150 unlimited access, infrared sauna, hot/cold plunge and Normatec compression.

Only 20 passes available. Walk-ins welcome.
